Q&A

Egyptian Robe Lyrics

I was hot as a burning dragon on a cross
And i knew my body wanted you
We were barely clothed in egyptian robes
Is it love or just a screw?
She descends from the stairs of an ancient lair, with two cats at her feet
Her electric pouncer couldn't weigh an ounce
But she managed to conquer me

I've waited long enough, now I have you
Under the sheets in my room
There's my body, just a tomb for the girls that I've had in the past

Drenched in sweat in a skeleton hat
Dress covered in bright red ink
It was fun for a while, but I knew it wouldn't last
The summer was dead to me

I've waited long enough, now I have you
Under the sheets in my room,
There's my body, just a tomb for the girls that I've had in the past

I've waited long enough, now I have you
Under the sheets in my room,
There's my body, just a tomb for the girls that I've had in the past

How could you not realize it was me?
All of the turquoise jewelry you've received
How could you not realize it was me?
All of the turquoise jewelry you've received
Ah, ah, ah
How could you not realize it was me?
All of the turquoise jewelry you've received
Ah, ah, ah, ah

I've waited long enough, now I have you
Under the sheets in my room,
There's my body, just a tomb for the girls that I've had in the past

I've waited long enough, now I have you

How could you not realize it was me?
All of the turquoise jewelry you've received
(repeat until fade out)

This song seems so rakish. It's about that satiation of desires. He's waited long enough for her, now he has her, in all of her covetous beauty.

There's no love, though, just lust. He's had her in his bed, just like all of his past fucks. He tires of her though, he knew it wouldn't last.

As for the "How could you not realize it was me? All of the turquoise jewelry you've received." Maybe he's a longtime secret admirer, which makes the song more intense, knowing all the trouble he has gone through to finally have her.

I like your interpretation but I think what he's saying is that yes he coveted her, but it was her love that wouldn't last, not his. It's sort of revealed when he says the summer was dead to him, meaning that the experience was sad for him, which would confirm that he was still in love with her, but even after the physical aspect of their love, he is still just a tomb for girls who fuck him and leave him..

As for the turquoise jewelry section I don't think he's even saying you've received.. He's almost clearly saying "all...
