Coquet Coquette Lyrics
Coquet coquette, you know I won't forget
How you kissed me strange to prove you were mythical
My coquet, you used my voice as your earthly vehicle
Coquet coquette, you know I won't forget
How you hurt me twice to prove you were cynical
My Coquet, you are the death, you are the pinnacle
With you I can only see my black-light constellations
And other shit I don't think I have the language to say
I don't want to catch you with some other guy's face under your eyelids
Something must be wrong, you give me emotional artifacts that can find no purchase
Coquet coquette, you know I won't forget
How you sold me out to prove you were typical
My coquet, you're Herculean, you are so miserable
Coquet coquette, you know I won't forget
How you made me cry to prove I was beautiful
My coquet, my teenage lust for you is so pitiful
With you I can only see my black-light constellations
And other shit I don't think I have the language to say
I don't want to catch you with some other guy's face under your eyelids
Something must be wrong, you give me emotional artifacts that can find no purchase

if kevin barnes hasn't the language to say something it probably can't be said.
My thoughts exactly.
My thoughts exactly.
I believe that some have you have missed how often Kevin Barnes focuses on the pain people cause each other. I get the feeling that this is about being involved with someone who is unintentionally emotionally abusive.
"Coquet Coquette, you know I won't forget How you made me cry to prove I was beautiful"
I don't think the sex matters in this song all that much, but say this is a man's feelings about a woman. I think that the man experienced a time that he only felt like his emotions were important to her when the woman hurt him enough that he could only express it in a way that she couldn't ignore.
if kevin barnes doesn't know me, how the hell he can know exactly what i am feeling?!!!!
Oh and it's "Coquet Coquette"
Beautiful and pitiful should be changed to dutiful and beautiful, respectively. At least that's the way it is in the studio version.
There's a chorus in this song!
Coquet means flirtatious and coquette means flirtatious woman. But coquet can also mean a flirtatious man, which might mean this coquet-coquette is a flirtatious transgender! And then you look at the line "guy's face under your eyelids" and wonder.
I'm pretty sure the line about a guy's face isn't about a transgender person. The song is about teenage-style lust and him being very jealous, not wanting her to even think at all about another guy.

Right on about the dutiful and beautiful though

It's Kevin Barnes, it could mean a man, women, or someone completely gender queer. But given the context of the rest of the lyrics, it's probably about a woman of sorts. Something tells me Georgie Fruits won't be making an appearance this album.

I assume "Guy face under your eyelids" (Which I honestly feel to be a brilliant piece of lyricism) is referring to the fact that the woman is dreaming about another guy's face.
I think the song is a description of a female lover by a male lover. He speaks of the loyalty of their romance. And I think the final line just is saying that "you make me feel in ways indescribable."
I think it is "You are the depth, you are the pinnacle." Makes sense.
I've heard different recordings of this song and I noticed that beautiful/dutiful and pitiful/beautiful get switched up.
May everyone who sees this know I'm posting this some time after the release date of False Priest was announced. I cannot wait :')
It's "earthly vehicle" How was this even up before they even put it up for a free download?
