Actually. Now that I've said that. I think it's a catholic wedding and the Groom is really gay. "wafer, shambling if you want your medicine show me" using religion as a way of "rehabilitating" gay men. Saying if you want to go to heaven, prove it. Be straight. "awol marine turn toward the camera slowly" Awol Marine is obviously a reference to a gay man who's trying to be straight. Turn toward the Camera slowly. That's a little confusing, but probably has something to do with the permanence of a photograph. Turn toward the camera slowly, probably is asking the man to really think about it. Making sure he's sure that he's doing the right thing. |

| Cold War Kids – Bulldozer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think "bull dozer" is a euphamism for a fight where they air all the diry laundry and secrets they've kept from each other throughout their relationship. I've been there. I needed a bull dozer in my marriage. It never happened. | |

I'm not sure but it sounds like a story about a husband/father leaving and the aftermath of it. "Hey it's your blood That makes my veins run It's true, so I tried to give it back to you" Here she's pointing out that it's her father's blood that makes her veins run. family... blood relative, but she doesn't want to be related to him. "Young one, look at me It's not your beast to leash Oh don't hold more than you can stand to carry" This is either her talking to a younger sibling or her mom telling her that it's not her problem and she shouldn't worry about it. "it's not your beast to leash... don't hold more than you can stand to carry"... "Must have been the case Hysterical strength To stand up while the room moved off its axis" Here she's saying she didn't listen. It "must have been the case" that she held more than she could stand to carry, because it took a lot of strength to stand up with her world turned upside down (off it's axis). "Old man look at me Through the teeth of your grief Oh don't grab more than you can stand to carry" And here she talks to her father, and sarcastically tells him the same advice. "Please, don't go out of your way to take this burden on" "'Cause you went off to see what no one else could see And left more than we could stand to bury" And here she tells the old man why she hates him. He went off to live a life without them and left them with all these problems that they aren't able to rid them selves of. I could be wrong... but that's what i hear. |

I can't believe no one has commented on any of this album yet. It's AMAZING. I just joined just so i could comment on this. I've been listening to this since it came out. This song to me, is great. I love the heavy beats at the very beginning, but then follow it up with soft piano is pretty amazing. I love the comparison between the wicked and the holy here. it's so short, so simple, so straight to the point. They aren't different from one another, the holy and the wicked are the same. they both condemn, they both break. but where did they go? what are you doing without them? It's like talking to someone who has found peace in something that isn't good or bad. someone who is just naturally good or happy. where have all the wicked gone? why haven't they broken you and convinced you, that you need them? where are the holy? have they not condemed you and made you feel that you need religion? brilliant! |
