""AWOL Marine" takes inspiration from a tape of homemade pornography that Hadreas viewed, in which one of the participants admits, camera still rolling, that he's just trying to get medication for his wife"

i know people say it's "wafer" opposed to "waver," but i don't understand that in the context....?
Catholic reference? body of christ wafer? Medicine being the Body of Christ you need to get into heaven and what not. Just a thought

Actually. Now that I've said that. I think it's a catholic wedding and the Groom is really gay.
"wafer, shambling if you want your medicine show me" using religion as a way of "rehabilitating" gay men. Saying if you want to go to heaven, prove it. Be straight.
"awol marine turn toward the camera slowly" Awol Marine is obviously a reference to a gay man who's trying to be straight. Turn toward the Camera slowly. That's a little confusing, but probably has something to do with the permanence of a photograph. Turn toward the camera slowly, probably is asking the man to really think about it. Making sure he's sure that he's doing the right thing.

It's as though my story is the innocent, childhood version, and this narrative is the adult one. Where sexuality moves from curious to demanding, to abusive, voyeuristic desire. It's about using bodies.
