| cLOUDDEAD – Physics Of A Unicycle Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's also in Son of a Gun. This is what I could make out after having listened to it countless times. Hum diddle diddle diddle hum diddle la someone's putting atoms in the flag for war, and up in the sky where the war planes fly, dead in the clouds hear the Gods cold lie. But there's one part where it changes the words to, Hum diddle diddle diddle hum diddle la someone's putting atoms in the flag car drive, and up in the sky where the delta planes fly, dead in the clouds hear the Gods cold lie. Don't quote me on it but that's what i've been hearing. |

| cLOUDDEAD – Son Of A Gun Lyrics | 15 years ago |
No beginning? Hi mom and dad, uh, I guess my schedule is going to be something like this for the next seven months or so. I'll start, uh, training at canon air force base line, i'm going to a gunnery school there, learning how to, uh, oh shoot and drop bombs from the air I guess. After I finish up at canon i'll be reporting to fairchild air force base. Yay to fairchild! (x4) |

| cLOUDDEAD – The Velvet Ant Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Lyrics are kind of off. Wingless wasp, the velvet ant. The cow on slanted land, settles to the lower most corner of the pen. Chicken wire and it's either side imprisonment, and the windows all stacked up, (uh huh) under the farm barn awning. Rattlesnake caught in a wheel well, strawberry in an ostrich throat. (x4) Yo. Two small girls and a handful of dressed men, they walk a cage full of goats across a b-ball court. Goats with a rectangled iris. People are aborting full grown goats A rattle snake caught in a wheel well, strawberry in an ostrich throat. (x4) All this and more at a pyramii video shoot. |

| Mew – Nervous Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I don't hear those lyrics at all. All I can make out is, "Nervous I know" and "It seems everywhere you go" That, and if this song is another one backwards, how can there be actual lyrics? |
| Mew – New Terrain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yes. The parallel between Nervous and New Terrain is that one is the other backwards. Ii'm not sure which one is the backwards one though. I think it's New Terrain. |

| Architecture in Helsinki – Heart It Races Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Boom dadadadadada boom dadadada! Awesome! How can you not like the new AIH? Their new songs are so much more upbeat and fun. I just love this album I haven't been able to stop listening to it since I bought it. I agree, the do remind of the B-52's. |
| Mew – 156 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I totally agree. The Half The World Is Watching Me version is so much better. I just prefer Mew's older stuff. | |
| Architecture in Helsinki – Like It Or Not Lyrics | 16 years ago |
They failed at sounding like trumpets. Every time I listen to this song I skip through the beginning because it just bugs me. Other than that I adore this song. |
| Mew – Apocalypso Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The best part of this song is after the singing has finished, that instrumental part. Whenever I listen to this song I always turn the volume up at that part. It's so amazing. | |
| Mew – Louise Louisa Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Silas is just an amazing drummer. There isn't even really a beat during that drum break part it's just pure amazing drumming. I was blown away. |
| Manchester Orchestra – Now That You're Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I didn't get religion out of this song at all. Andy uses the words god and lord and jesus in a few of his other songs so I just assumed it was another exclamation. | |
| Manchester Orchestra – Where Have You Been Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh my god this song just makes me melt. Andy Hull has such a wonderful voice. "God, my god, my god, where have you been?" I think it's the third to last time he repeats those words, he just says it with so much passion I almost cry. |
| Mew – 156 (HtWIWM version) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I know some people like this version better but I don't. The new version adds to the creepy aspect of this song and is just more put together. The part I do like is the line "Time to burn" and how you can hear the little voices saying things in the background more clearly. | |
| Menomena – Flour Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree. This is the most powerful song I have ever heard in my life. I absolutly love the saxophones. Fantastic. | |
| Menomena – The Late Great Libido Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I love the saxaphone in this song. It's so beautiful. | |
| Foxy Shazam! – Ghost Animals Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If you listen really closely during the second repeat of the chorus of this song there is a weird noise. I read an interview with Eric Sean Nally and he said that they altered the sound of a cat being run over. These guys are nuts! |
| Moi Caprice – The Only Happy Boy In Copenhagen Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song is purely about the innocence and simplicity of children, and whenever the singer thinks about his childhood it makes him happy. | |
| Why? – Fatalist Palmistry Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think there is a continuing theme in this album but I cant figure out what it is. In the song These Few Presidents the beginning lyrics are: "At your house, the smell of our still living human bodies and oven gas, you pray to nothing out loud, two first names and an ampersand, embroidered proudly on a kitchen towl" Then at the very end of this song during the chorus you can hear in the background: "At your house, embroidered on a kitchen towel" Could Anna and Nathan be the two embroidered names? This also happens in the songs The vowels Pt 2 and Gnashville. In The Vowels some of the lyrics are: "This is what the ghost of someones dad says" And then in Gnashville the lyrics are: "Thats what the ghost of someones dad might say." I dont know if there are more of them or not but those are the two I heard. Any thoughts? |

| Mew – Drown Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is so eerie I love it. No idea what it's about though. |
| Forgive Durden – Genesis (feat. Casey Crescenzo) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Seriously? It deffanitly sounds like one person to me, except for maybe the chorus. Either way the voice sounds the same and I read that it was just Ahrima. | |
| Foxy Shazam! – NO! Don't Shoot Lyrics | 17 years ago |
More corrections besides the addition of the piano part. The gibberish part is wrong. "Since you since you since you since you since you been gone since you been good Since you been here" And also it's "sesame seeds find your buns" All that aside, I have no idea what this is about. Eric Sean Nally is really weird. He crawls down the sidewalk while headbanging so honestly, this could be about anything. |
| Why? – Women Eye, "No." Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| (biggity-ball-head-ducka-ray) Sounds like it is being said backwards dont you think? | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Dear Jenny Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think it's either about a mental hospital like some people said before or about a rehab center. Both explanations make sense. | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Bad Habit Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The Dresden Dolls got so much hate mail for this song. You can read it on their website it's hilarious. This song isn't really about biting your nails it's about picking at the skin around your nails. I have that habit to. |
| The Kissaway Trail – 61 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is clearly about emotional and physical strength and overcoming something. I'm not sure if this song is talking about a specific thing or just obstacles in general. I also dont quite understand the significance of the title. "Shadows they're good, then I know theres light" Best line in the song for sure. |
| Moi Caprice – Beatrice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is deffinatly written as the poet Dante speaking to Beatrice the love of his life. They were both from Florence, "Beatrice through the streets of florence", and Dante was completly obsessed with her, "I want to see you pass and speak your name, feel it hit the air and watch the flame", and he always referenced her in any of the writings he has ever done. |
| Deerhoof – Milk Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Deerhoof is so not like that. They are the goofiest band ever. You should see some of their interviews. No this song is about a made up character named the milk man who wears a mask and lures children into his dreamland by playing them music and traps them. It's like one of those weird childrens stories that kids love when they are young but realize how creepy they are as they grow older. The rest of the songs on the album describe the dreamland as being a happy place for children. It almost reminds me of a circus at times, or an old animated fantasy movie. No molesting at all or any connection to spirited away. Sorry. |
| Forgive Durden – Genesis (feat. Casey Crescenzo) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Only one character is singing this song, Ahrima. The narrator is just telling little bits and pieces of the story throughout the entire CD. The scientist isn't even really a character in the actual story that sings although I do think he represents a God like figure or a creator of the world the characters live in. | |
| Animal Collective – Peacebone Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I deffinatly thought it was "An obsession with the past is like a kid flying" and "It's not my words that you should follow it's your insight, you trust your insight" and so on... If those lyrics are correct I thought it was about how people think they have control over everything and they are always trying to redeem themselves for things that probably couldn't be helped. "An obsession with the past is like a kid flying" because it's ridiculous, move on. "You find out that you cant ask a baby to cry" as in you have no control over things like that, go with the flow. These guys are obviously on something so they could possiby have that kind of attitude. |
| Mew – Why Are You Looking Grave? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yes that is J. Mascis. The two different versions are the one with and without him I think. Not quite sure though. I totally agree with the thing about first impressions and people hiding who they truly are behind what they think people want them to be but I also thought it might be about people who act like they dont want anyone to notice them but it instead makes people notice them more. "Why are you sitting there? Are you hoping that someone will stare?" I'm not sure if it is someone craving attention by pretending to be more upset than they are. It seems more genuine than that. The video backs up the idea about inside vs. outside of a person with the people with animal faces and stuff. Its a great video and this is a great song. |
| Why? – Rubber Traits Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song is about a person wavering between living and comitting suicide. In the verses he is listing all this stuff he wants to do and that he wants to happen to him but then in the middle of the verse it changes to something more negative that makes him feel like killing himself again. The chorus "I dont want to when I feel like I could have gone longer" means, in this interperatation, that he no longer wants to kill himself once he feels like he could continue living longer. There are also little hints that he is prepared to kill himself at ant time. "I want to always taste a blade", "Keep a tape recorder on my bedside table", "Drawing dates from a stacked deck of cards and doom-doom-doom". I think the Rubber Traits part could be like Treefinger said, a fake personality in that either he is suicidal for attention or that he pretends to be fine though he is suicidal. I'm not sure which one makes more sense. |
| Why? – Act Five Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is certainly about death, but I do think the Hamlet thing is very interesting. I never thought of that. "There is no grace in act five Only the nerves, insect-like twitches Involuntary bowel movements, and confusion" Meaning that death is not a graceful thing. It's scary to watch and to do. Act five I guess refers to the end of something, the end of ones life, death. The chorus I think is Yoni trying to remember or even bring back his dead loved ones through pictures. I know when I look at pictures of my dead relatives it's to remember them as they were before they died. "I've been trying to steal my grandfather's handsome from old photographs" He wants to remember them as good looking people, not as the confused and twitching people he describes them as in the first few lines. |
| Mew – Half The World Is Watching Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Obviously the pre-write to Behind The Drapes. This is a beautiful song. |
| Sigur Rós – Seagópur Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is so pretty. I didn't know there were actually lyrics. I read in a biography that Jonsi just sings gibberish to go along with the music. Real lyrics or not though this is an amazing song. |
| Moi Caprice – My Girl You Blush Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is so wonderful. It makes me think of something a guy would sing to a girl if her were serenading her from outside her bedroom window at night. The best lines ever in a song, "If we're happy on a barstool, we're buy the bar we're in, if we're kicked out of the artschool, we'll paint each other's skin". It's so beautiful, I wish someone would say that to me. |
| Mew – 156 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Such a creepy song. It's amazing and beautiful but very very creepy. I dont want to read too much into it because I like that this song is a mystery and hope it will always stay a mystery. We all know it is about a stalker but lets keep the 156 part a secret 'kay. I'm sure Jonas is laughing at the fact that his fans are loosing their minds trying to figure out what it means. The only part I am really curious about is the money part. "If you got the money for me". I thought it might be drugs but that's a little cliche... |
| Mew – Succubus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is by far the creepiest song I have ever heard in my life. Therefore, totally Mew. I thought he was talking about a hospital until I looked up the word succubus. Here it is strait from the dictionary. Succubus: a demon in female form, said to have sexual intercourse with men in their sleep. Make sense now anyone? I cant believe this is the first comment... |
| Mew – Panda Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Weird. I could have sworn that it was "Try to like ourselves" instead of "Try to like horses". I hate it when I get lyrics wrong because it changes the whole meaning. It made sense to me before the horses part and now I just dont get it at all. Plus, i'm terrified of horses. I think the thing about popularity makes a lot of sense but doesn't the line that says "riding over me" remind you a little of "Wheels Over Me"? Just something to think about I guess. This is a beautiful song. |
