Definitely a slow-burner this album, but this one is very good. Seems to be about someone who doesn't think they care about someone that much but ends up realising they do.
its by far the best track in my opinion on places like this. such a catchy fun tune and just amazing lyrics.
I think it's "enormously low," rather than enormously love
To me this song is about a girl that he was kind of 'paired up' with, in the sense that its that girl that if he wanted it he could have her pretty easily, and his parents 'love' her, but he thinks he doesn't. I think it has an ambiguous conclusion the "There's never been a knife that cuts me half as deep as you and wide for you" could be referring that he fell in love with her, or can't stand her. I would assume the falling in love part because it makes more sense in the context of the song.
I think this song is about a relationship where the mother of the singer doesn't approve. Hence the whole, "I'll tell you anything but not the truth My Mum thinks she's in love with you and I'm not"
He's being sarcastic, his mother doesn't approve but he's madly inlove for the girl, the title of the song, like it or not, is like him saying eff you to his mom, as in the relationship will continue regardless of her approval. And it's evident again at the end, "Enormously Love No It's true There's never been a knife that cuts me half as deep as you and wide for you despite the dreams that others grew"
The dreams others grew being his mom wanting him to love someone else.
At their show at the Enmore (earlier this year, maybe last year, i forget) they said that this song was about growing up in a country-ish town. I'm not sure how it fits in with the song though...
They failed at sounding like trumpets. Every time I listen to this song I skip through the beginning because it just bugs me. Other than that I adore this song.
