| Britney Spears – Till The World Ends (The Femme Fatale Remix) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Is Nicki talking about Lil' Kim in her verse? She's obviously talking to someone older so I'm guessing it's Kim since it's the only person she fights with on a regular basis as far as I know. |
|
| Lady GaGa – Hair Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I hear "stay cool on the streets" :) And for the red highlights part, I hear: Sometimes I want some (something) or red highlights kind of sounds like rockin' but not quite.... not sure. |

| The Lonely Island – Jack Sparrow Lyrics | 14 years ago |

and I believe it is It's the lonely island welcome to the set Some fellas lookin' jealous Play that back and get wet (Michael: YEAH YEAH) Gun at my waist shank in my sock |
|
| The Lonely Island – Jack Sparrow Lyrics | 14 years ago |

The lyrics that you are questioning are: One day he was born He yearned for adventure (Andy: NO!) Oh Captain Jack (Jorma: Yeah) Giving them the what for! |

| Britney Spears – I Wanna Go Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Yea I agree, it's "di-ir-irt" not "thoughts" | |
| Marina and the Diamonds – Shampain Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| And you can also be dead without being dead of course, like how people joking refer to being passed out on alcohol and such. | |
| Marina and the Diamonds – Shampain Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| yes, but if you see her music video it involved being girls as zombies who died at a party. So I believe with talking about angels and such there is a death theme there and yes the hole in the head might be a bullet hole. | |
| Avril Lavigne – What The Hell Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Actually, you might be happier to know that Avril was forced to do this by her record company. They would not release her record until she put a poppy bratty song on it. It's catchy, but I do understand it's a bad kinda of thing to be putting out there. However she did not want to and makes no bones about saying out loud how the rest of the record won't be like this and it wasn't her choice to have something like this out there. |
|
| Sarah Slean – Lucky Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song is about the argument of what happens to you when you die. Science vs. Religion. Science says you're just...cease to exist, faith says you'll go to heaven. But of course science has been beaten down, by faith who looks better (going to heaven is a more favorable thing to think about) and will never kneel to science "you go first!" Sarah is pondering "oh oh where will I go" ..."what are you running for?" since there's no escape from death. |
|
| Kate Nash – Mansion Song Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I'm surprised none of you had a guess about the raw vegetable part... It's acutally a reference to Gone With The Wind, where Scarlett digs up a raw turnip out of the ground, bites it, then holds her hands to her chest saying "As god as my witness I'll never go hungry again even if I have to lie steal cheat and kill." Meaning she's going to take care of herself now and eff everyone else. And about the mansion...well it fits since the only thing that matters to Scarlett the entire time during the movie is her father's Mansion, Tara, which she guards with her life. It's seriously all she cares about, over everything. |
|
| Marina and the Diamonds – The Outsider Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I hear "I laugh myself in the face" which could be a sort of Marina like thing to say. Also this whole song reminds me of Dexter from Showtime's Dexter. "And I grinned at you softly Because I'm a fucking wild card" |
|
| Marina and the Diamonds – Shampain Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
For those who are confused, her album version of the lyrics are: Laid out dead Inside a lonely bed Trying to hide the hole inside my head The lyrics on her site say Laid back in bed, but I believe that was her previous version, as she has changed lyrics in her songs for the album versions. And you can clearly hear that she does not say "Laid back in bed." |

| Kerli – Walking On Air Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Bjork much in the bridge? Whoa. She sounds so much like Bjork in the bridge I could have thought it was a collaboration or something. | |
| The Ting Tings – Great DJ Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| If anybody's wondering what BPM stands for I believe that would be "beats per minute," the measure of a pulse, in reference to the beat of the music. | |
| Regina Spektor – Back of a Truck Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| 100% with you here, I was just coming to comment the exact same thing! | |
| Regina Spektor – Blue Lips Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Also to add on to my American Gods theory, in the book, the gods have been brought over to America by the people that believed in them, and then stopped believing in them over time, eventually ending them up in a cold modern reality. The people and cultures who crossed to America were looking for something better and just ended up evolving into the gross American society there is today ("They made it past the enemy lines just to become enslaved in the assembly lines.") | |
| Regina Spektor – Blue Lips Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Is it just me or is this song incredibly parallel to the book American Gods by Neil Gaiman? The male protagonist is let out of prison to discover there is nothing left in his life (his wife is gone, his job is gone, his life is gone) and all there is is the gods that come to take him away...At first he believes that he's imagining it all or dreaming, that all the gods in all the worlds are just something he's imagining, but they're real, and gather in an ocean of stars (a backdrop of blue) in a cosmic gathering. The phrase blue lips is in the book several times to describe Laura's lips, the protagonist Shadow's dead wife, who comes to him and asks to make her alive again, she wants to live and be human. "He thought of Laura's blue lips and his promise..." etc Shadow is the only one who knows about the gods, all other humans are ignorant and just continue on with their lives, blindly believing in new things like internet and media and forgetting about where the real gods are. The gods all say how they miss the time when the people used to believe but now the people are stuck ("enslaved in the assembly lines") in a cycle of consumption in America. I think it's plausible :3 All the verses match up and make sense in terms of the book. |
|
| The Decemberists – The Bagman's Gambit Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Actually, I took the line "You shot a plainclothes cop on the ten o'clock" to be that she shot him on the ten o' clock cop patrol...that's just me though. | |
| Harry and the Potters – Felix Felicis Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Oh my god you're amazing. That's absolutely what he's saying. A+! | |
| Natasha Bedingfield – A.N.G.E.L. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I'm not really sure why she says "I wish somebody would disrespect my man..." I assume she might have been saying she wants the chance to be a badass or something and defend her man but this obviously confusing lyric was corrected for the music video version, which goes "If somebody should disrespect my love..." | |
| Amanda Ghost – Filthy Mind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Not that anyone's talking about anything here, but the odd voice you hear at the beginning is a clip of Robert DeNiro from Taxi Driver. I was so delighted when I was first watching Taxi Driver and recognized the quote...I was like OHHH so that's who's talking in that song! | |
| Ludo – The Horror Of Our Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Actually, Elmira was from Tiny Toons, not Animaniacs. Know your 90s, lol. She was the "tiny" equivalent of Elmer Fudd. Also, huge big lulz at the Twilight supporter. Why the hell would this band write a god damn song about Twilight. And I'm sad to hear that this song is supposed to be serious, because the lyrical content is just...terrible. I like Ludo but ugh. This is the major major skipper on this album. |
|
| Ashlee Simpson – Follow You Wherever You Go Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Woot! My fixed lyrics went through! The person who originally submitted put up a different song, so these are from me! :D I think this song is hilarious. |
|
| The Mars Volta – Cassandra Geminni: Plant A Nail In The Navel Stream Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Is it just my CD, or is it supposed to have those skipping noises at the end of the track? My CD has been played twice and was kept in pretty much mint condition inside the case all these years, so I'm confused. | |
| The Mars Volta – Miranda, That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore: D. Con Safo Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The background music reminds me of something that belongs in a Quentin Tarantino movie. It's epic and I love it. And one of the few songs on Frances that doesn't scare the shit out of me. | |
| Ludo – The Horror Of Our Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I'm going to take a step further and say I hope to god it is a satire. I've been listening to it a few times more and it really is ....terrible lyric writing if he's being serious. He's listing every single cliche for the horror genre instead of coming up with anything new. Ohhh vampires/ravens/cathedral/graveyard/whitedress/ghost boring. The chorus is also unbearable. I really like some of Ludo's songs but in others I question whether they're a hit and miss band. I really hate this song, if he's being serious. But maybe it is a satire, I mean hey, he says "my immortal." Is that an Evanescence call out? |
|
| No Doubt – Start The Fire Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I agree that's it's about smoking pot together to relax, make up and get back together. Also lol at the bagpipe synthesizer. |
|
| No Doubt – Dark Blue Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| to siphon is to take liquid out of something (like siphoning gas out of a car) through a tube (which is the object itself, a siphon.) I suppose she's meaning that he takes something out of her, obviously not literally (although I suppose an exhange of bodily fluids isn't out of the question,) but as she hesitates, he takes things out of her, perhaps emotionally, and she can no longer hesitate because he's already taken it. | |
| No Doubt – Simple Kind Of Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I don't get the part about the shells D: What does she mean, she's covered in shells? | |
| No Doubt – Tragic Kingdom Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Um...has no one mentioned their shout out to the fact that there's a legend that Walt Disney is buried under CalArts (the animation school), his body frozen in ice so that one day he can be unfrozen and walk the earth again? Which is lol not true, but a very popular tale. Hence the frozen tears icicles dripping from his eyes. Also I like the Star Wars theme saxophone at the end. |
|
| No Doubt – Sixteen Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Lol to bubblelicious, who didn't understand the term "irony." | |
| No Doubt – Doghouse Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I really like the shout out reference to the Pavlov's Bell dog experiment...dogs were given food at the same time the scientists rang a bell, so the dogs soon began to associate the sound of a bell with food time. The dogs were conditioned to salivate without any food there, and just at the sound of the bell. | |
| Maroon 5 – Kiwi Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I've listened to this song in the background before, I've never paid attention to what he was saying. I came here just to read the lryics and I frickin' burst out laughing. Omg. This is hilarious. I give it 5 stars on itunes so I can remember that this is the eating out song. | |
| Maroon 5 – Not Falling Apart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The way this song starts, it sounds like it should be playing during the prom scene in Grease,...I don't know if that's a good thing or not. | |
| Ludo – The Horror Of Our Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song reminds me of the movie The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari which basically was the inspiration for the modern gothic movement and film directors like Tim Burton and all that. Just the whole...I've killed everyone in the town and I've been in your bedroom and you are an angel. I wouldn't put it past them though to have this be a satire of gothic bands as opposed to being serious, which as someone complained about parody having to be "funny", a satire does not have to be. |

| Third Eye Blind – 10 Days Late Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Consequence could be another synonymous word for the ozone/carbon stuff, or it could be that the look on her face (her emotion being a consequence) or her belly is catching a glow from the sunset/sunrise. Sure she's only ten days late but he could at least be warily looking at it thinking what there might be later... | |
| Colbie Caillat – Realize Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Lulz, that's quite an interpretation there. | |
| Third Eye Blind – 10 Days Late Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
People were asking about the ozone and the ocean, here's my idea: She tells him to meet him at the dock/boardwalk/beach so she can tell him this important thing, and whilst this one or both are talking without looking at the other, just kind of talking to the distance which would explain "talking back at the ocean" anddddd for HisDudenesss, if you know about globalwarming ozone problems, the carbon gases in the air that are messin' everything up in the environment just happen to give us beautiful sunsets, the gases help change the sky into the pretty colors (they say the most beautiful sunsets are in California because of how polluted it is) therefore "ozone catches a glow" Ya dig? |
|
| Harry and the Potters – Felix Felicis Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I realllllly want to know what Joe is singing in a round at the end...something like "Dean and Ginny broke up" and some stuff I can't work out. Sounds something like "so much better." I tried really hard to figure it out at the concert but that was even harder to decipher than their recording. Argh. | |
| Ludo – Love Me Dead Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Ha ha, of course I know, Stupid Bloody Tuesday... You're sn is from I Am The Walrus. But I'm in my twenties, so I think that helps my chances of knowing better than some of the people on this forum who are like 14.. Do I get a nickel? |
|
| The Decemberists – The Tain (Parts I, II, III, IV, V) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Oh good, cuz I was wondering if getting it from itunes would solve the problem XD Guess not. I suppose they just had a little mistake! That's alright, nothing can beat the disaster that is Natalie Imbruglia's Torn....she recorded one chorus, which happened to have a skip in it, so every time the chorus comes back on that song there's a skip, on every copy of her cd everywhere and therefore there isn't one copy of that song in existence that doesn't have a skip every time she says "perfect" which is a lovely taste of irony considering the word. Even in the music video. Love that. | |
| Natasha Bedingfield – Piece of Your Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I can't believe nobody has said anything, it's actually my favorite song on her new album. What I really love about it is that it's totally danceable to throw your head around to. Pretty straight forward lyrics (and I submitted a correction that will hopefully go through) but I think this track is rockin' and I totally love Natasha. | |
| The Decemberists – The Bagman's Gambit Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Okay soooo I just got the Decemberists "Practical Handbook" DVD. And now we know the answer to the female/male or male/male question. On the interactive menu for the dvd, they reenact their songs in this humerous stage play....and for the Bagman's Gambit (gasp) Jenny plays the woman, clearly in women's clothing who is smuggling documents and the police catch her. Soooo our Russian spy is a woman, not a man. And it's not just because they didn't want to show "gay" on the DVD because the next clip is the On The Bus Mall reenactment where two of the Decemberists play the two teenage boys and someone else plays and old man that comes by to check 'em out. I also apologize that I triple posted up there on the page, I didn't know it did that because I accidentally reloaded when my internet was taking forevs. |

| Ludo – Love Me Dead Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Um...whoever posted that youtube video is retarded. Although I'm sure you're the person who made it/was in it and are plugging yourself. Whatev. Anywho, he has the best voice when he sings "You're born of a jackal, you're beautiful!" and the last "her body is my coffin." Damn this song gives me chills, I listen to it on repeat forever. And the real music video is damn awesome, barely any cuts and lots of planned theatrics. Very cute. |

| The Dresden Dolls – Lonesome Organist Rapes Page Turner Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Does anyone have an idea of why "there were matchsticks in my pants" has any significance? Why would she mention that? It seems like there might be some old wive's tale about matches she's referencing but I have no idea what it could mean. | |
| The Decemberists – The Tain (Parts I, II, III, IV, V) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Please tell me I'm not the only one who hears a skip at 4:59 between parts II and III. It's not the way I burned it, it's like that on the CD itself. I tried listening to somebody else's online stream of it and it still had that skip there. Did they just mess up while putting out the final track? That skip always bothers me everytime :O | |
| The Fratellis – Chelsea Dagger Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| For those of you that don't want to bother going somewhere else to look it up, "blagger" means a swindler. :) | |
| The Decemberists – The Bagman's Gambit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Well, Petrograd was called so until 1924. The time period fits, so since the Russians were spying on American military things in the 20s, the Russian woman can still be from Petrograd and in America (hinted that it is indeed America by saying The National Mall, and needing to use the embassy in Russia.) | |

Oh, here we are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Soviet_and_Russian_espionage_in_the_United_States Russians were sending spies to the United States in the 20s for military and industrial information, hence the mircrofilm (pictures of machines or weapons). I'm for the 20's time period interpretation. :) |
