The Horror Of Our Love Lyrics
I'm a killer
Cold and wrathful
Silent sleeper
I've been inside your bedroom
I've murdered half the town
Left you love notes on their headstones
I'll fill the graveyards
Until I have you
Moonlight walking
I smell your softness
Carnivorous and lusting
To track you down among the pines
I want you stuffed into my mouth
Hold you down and tear you open
Live inside you
Oh, love I'd never hurt you
But I'll grind against your bones
Until our marrows mix
I will eat you slowly
Ohhhhh
The horror of our love
Never so much blood pulled through my veins
Ohhhhh
The horror of our love
Never so much blood
I wake in terror
Blackbirds screaming
Dark cathedrals spilling
Midnight on their alters
I'm your servant
My immortal
Pale and perfect
Such unholy heaving
The statues close their eyes
The room is changing
Break my skin
And drain me
Ancient language
Speak through fingers
The awful edges
Where you end and I begin
Inside your mouth
I cannot see
There's catastrophe
In everything I'm touching
As I sweat and crush you
And I hold your beating chambers
Until they beat no more
You die like angels sing
Ohhhhh
The horror of our love
Never so much blood pulled through my veins
Ohhhhh
The horror of our love
Never so much blood
You're a ghost, love
Nightgown flowing
Your body blue and walking
Along the continental shelf
You are a dream among the sharks
Beautiful and terrifying
Living restless
We dance in dark suspension
And you bury me
In the ocean floor beneath you
Where they'll never hear us scream
Ohhhhh
The horror of our love
Never so much blood pulled through my veins
Ohhhhh

It's more likely to be about tampons than Twilight.
hahahaha. i concur.

I don't think that this song is meant to be a parody at all. Ludo lyrics are known for their amazing ability to paint a picture and tell a story. And that is exactly what these lyrics do. They may be disturbing, but they are disturbing in such a beautiful way. It's a short horror story in song form.
Okay...I can't help but be frustrated with what people think of this song. First, let me clarify something.
Yes, absolutely, yes, by all means form your own opinions and interpret songs and music how you like. Awesome. Good for you (But don't be a total idiot).
My point is that Ludo songs are never that metaphor-heavy. Like...ever. Their songs and lyrics are straightforward, simple to grasp, and pretty much awesome all the time. On the surface, this song sounds very much about a killer who slays a girl he's obsessed with. THAT'S what it's about. No abstract symbology or metaphor, just a guy who kills a girl. Simple as that is, Andrew's amazing descriptive powers make that simple idea into a fantastic song. Think about what it would be like to be that guy? The song almost sounds like a romance, and to that guy, while he may be removing the girls heart with his bare hands, it IS a romance. he's utterly consuming and destroying the object of his desires. Dark? Absolutely. But real.
Straightforward and simple. Andrew thought to himself "I'm gonna write a song about a killer," so that's what he did.
"This song is about when you're on vacation and your friends get eaten by a fuckin' lake." -- Andrew Volpe, lead singer and songwriter for Ludo, on Lake Pontchartrain.
Hahahaha. I agree with that 100%

All their songs are very straight forward. Now I have to go see what people's interpretations are on Lake Pontchartrain.

This song is NOT a parady. First of all, a parady is meant to be funny by definition, which this is not. Secondly, try looking up interviews with Andrew and you'll see what it really means.
Think of it like that chick from Animaniacs who loves animals so much she wants to squeeze them. It's about that all consuming, passionate love where all you want to do is get closer to that person. It's a magnified version of pinching someone's cheeks or hugging someone tightly. Imagine if that type of love happened to a sociopath? That's what this song is. Take that feeling of a normal person and multiple it and you get a killer who wants to become one with his loved one.
Although it is disturbing, it's also beautiful. Those lyrics combined with the ethereal music is so horribly touching. And I think that's another important aspect of the song -- the contrast between the physical horror that goes on and the beautiful way it's told.
Well done, Ludo.
haha not animaniacs =] it was tiny toons! (im talking about that girl that loved animals lol)

Actually, parody is NOT necessarily meant to be funny. It's supposed to exaggerate certain elements of something to create an over-blown version of it, which this does.

parodies aren't always meant to be funny, but regardless of humor the song is still not a parody.

First off, this AFI and My Chemical Romance are not the same type of band. Look at AFI's history.
Second off, if this song is a parody, it does a poor job. A parody needs some level of self awareness in that it is actively referring to its source material.
@Jayemel Know this is an old song, but for anyone who happens upon here. No, this song is in no form a parody. It's lyrics are straightforward and meant to paint a picture. The song is just following along the story of a killer and the love he is after.

Mmmmnngh I think the whole thing is a metaphor or dark euphemism for the dark, carnal, intense aspect of making love. This song is amazingly creepily sexy, I love it so.
Why does EVERYTHING have to be about Twilight now?!
I think bridgers22 is on to something. Reading more quotes by Dali, this song definitely seems to have taken something from him.
And that quote about eating Gala is just creepy.
so this is random, but did anyone notice that the second measure has 7 beats? it's the ONLY one all song...
anyway, this song really creeped me out at first, but it's definitely grown on me (although it's still very weird)
I too believe that it's about sex, but I think that it is about so much more than sex. It's about becoming one with your partner, NEEDING to be with them on an entirely different level, so much so that it hurts. It's about love in the most raw and animalistic form.
Well to me it kinda sounds like twilight.

Although I disagree that the song is specifically about Twilight, I think it could definitely be interpreted as a vampire love song. Many of the lines and a lot of the imagery at least suggest it. For example:
You're a ghost, love Nightgown flowing Your body blue and walking Along the continental shelf You are a dream among the sharks Beautiful and terrifying Living restless We dance in dark suspension
I always thought this meant that by the end of the song she had been turned into a vampire as well. Any way it's interpreted, it's a beautiful song.
