I think it's just talking about how everyone has to deal with their demons/struggles everyday, and I dont know, maybe find comfort in the fact that we're not alone because everyone else is fighting through the same thing? Anyway. I actually love the song despite the negative criticisms about it. It doesn't sound completely like the old blink, but face it, they've grown up and it affects their sound too. I agree, this song is beautiful. I think we can interpret this song generally, it doesn't have to refer to theology or the Bible. It's basically about human pride, in regards to people's words. It's about how people like to judge, play God, and express it with their words (thus putting "words inside God's mouth"). We get so proud over our theories and judgments, we don't realize we're actually not as right as we think we are. In the process, we hurt others, and in the end, we'll realize we're just hurting ourselves, losing so much more than we've ever won..all because of our pride. I think the song is called Unmade to inspire us to "unmake" ourselves, to strip ourselves off our pride, humble ourselves, and return to what we were supposed to be. |

This song is called "Introspect" on the final album..I think the title should be changed.. :) Well to me the meaning's pretty obvious. He's in a relationship that kills him bit by bit. That relationship used to be the most wonderful thing in the world but for whatever reason (most probably because his partner lied to him many times), he's incredibly tired of it now. Seems like he's still in love with her, she has a way of charming him ("I may be lost here, here in your eyes"), but the chemistry is gone, and she's hurt him too deeply too many times. So he's questioning himself, "is this heaven or is this hell?" He's too tired to think due to all the pain he's feeling. It's a sad song :( but it sounds beautiful :] |

When I first listened to the intro, I was like, "what??" But then it got better as I listened more. The style of music is definitely not the usual Keane, but i guess the lyrics still show who they are. Anyway, in the previous album, the song that made them huge "Is it any wonder" didn't sound much like their other songs. Maybe they're using the same technique here? Maybe for publicity reasons, the first single they release has to be a song that could be well received by the public, not only by the fans that will love their work no matter what anyway.. This song's meaning becomes clearer to me when I try not paying too much attention to who "you" and "I" are referring to. This song is full of irony. It's basically the story of a man in his hospital bed, knowing that he's going to die. When he reviews the things everything that he did in his life, he feels like he has wasted his life away for doing bad things ("dirty hands"). He has been living his life recklessly, not caring how the bad things that he did affected people around him ("blindfold down..eyes can't see..run as fast as you can.."). He is frustrated with his regrets, and he gets even more sad when he realizes that there are people out there wasting his life away ("smokers outside the hospital doors"). He only wants one more chance to live so that he can change the way that he's been living. He wants to "wear his smile" which means sharing his message to people so that they will believe him and won't waste their life away just like he did. But he knows that people can't believe him because he's going to die (mouth is "wide shut" and "i cant hear you") The irony is, this man in the hospital really wants to change his life, but he has no more chance. While the smokers outside the hospital doors have the chance to change their lives, but they don't want to. I'm not sure about how the singer intended this song's meaning, but we can interpret it positively. The end of this song is the main part of the song: "we've all been changed from what we were our broken parts smashed off the floor" In this life, maybe we started as good people. But because of the hurts and pains we got in the past, we've been changed to someone who is bitter. We're not good anymore, just the way we used to be. But regardless of all our broken parts, let's not be like this man who regrets everything that he did in his last moments. We should check ourselves, are we being who we wanted to be? Are we proud of our lives? Are we good? Are we going to end our lives with regrets? For sure, I don't want to die a broken man.
