Leader Lyrics
There are so many signs the end is nigh
Our Leader told us so beside
We follow him blind, to and fro
Wherever he decides to go
He speaks, we listen
We'll see is vision
He explained so easily
We're all the missing pieces
Maybe you'll fit right in too
Ask yourself, it might be true
Join our hands and come along
The day's about to dawn
I feel it coming
On and on the hour's upon you
Now it won't be long
I feel it coming
Now we'll put you in our uniform
Everyone will be reborn
Wear us over where your heart is
Your new life with us has started
You'll speak
He'll listen
We'll see
His vision
Join our hands and come along
The day's about to dawn
I feel it coming
On and on the hour's upon you
Now it won't be long
I feel it coming
?????????????????????????
We're on a ticking bomb
I feel it coming
On and on the hour's upon you
Now it won't be long
I feel it coming
Feel it coming...
Feel it coming...
Feel it coming...
Feel it coming...
Feel it coming
Join our hands and come along
The day's about to dawn
I feel it coming

The song is about the religious system that is American patriotism.
lemme show you what I mean. Concerning Jesus Christ, the Gospel of John says, "In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not overcome it." (John 1:4-5)
Concerning the United States of America. George W. Bush says, "This ideal of America is the hope of all mankind…. That hope still lights our way. And the light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overcome it."
the reference of being "re-born" was of Jesus explaining how one must view becoming a follower of G-d.
the US Army preaches the same thing, only being reborn into uniform where you become property (ever hear the term "collateral damage"?) of the US of A.
it's about false hope in a terribly evil country. (it's not just about Bush, but all leaders of the United States).
i could explain some more of the parallels but they're pretty easy to pick up if you just imagine Patriotism as a religion of its own.
I think he was talking about the darker side of dicipleship... like Jim Jones. It's in this interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khYZK55Kdmg
well when i hear and read the chorus i think its about death....? but im not really sure. cuz in the begining of the song its talking about following our leader and stuff...so i guess it can fit into that patriotism idea but i think its talking about the death of somthing or the end of somthing and the leader is guideing us there.....i don't know...i have to listen to it some more...
This song is about what it's like to be in a cult. Haha, apparently the hole album was loosely based on the idea of a fictional cult Alex had imagined in his head. Just what it would be like. What you would feel. So this is kind of the anthem of it all. "Everyone will be reborn/put us over where your heart is/your new life with us has started" + "he speaks, we listen, we'll see his vision"--it's about a cult.
SinginSilence, you make a good point, but Alex Greenwald is Agnostic. He would never write a song about God, haha.
In this album, Alex Greenwald focuses his songwriting on subjects of cults that he's fascinated with.
Here's what he said: "I became fascinated with how a cult will start with a charismatic leader whose heart possibly could have been in the right place within their distortion of reality. Somehow this clicked with me as unifying the songs."
I'm pretty sure this particular song is all about the mass suicide instigated by Rev. Jim Jones..it's pretty straightforward, really. He's the leader, and he's telling his congregation that the "end is nigh," therefore encouraging them to "be reborn."
