| Kevin Drew – Everybody's Fucking Everyone Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Where does one find this song! | |
| The Ruby Suns – There's Soup at the End of the Tunnel Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I really like that, the goodbye at the end there. Reading the lyrics without the song, it seems so much lighter and less depressing. | |
| Pavement – Haunt You Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I can smell you on my hands And it smells really good Oh yeah! |
| The Ruby Suns – There Are Birds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I wish there were more on her too. Unfortunately I'm pretty horrible at telling lyrics apart from each other. |
| Nine Inch Nails – A Warm Place Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is one of those songs you feel like you've heard in another life. I always get strange imagery of an old tree on an african landscape listening to this. | |
| Kevin Drew – Lucky Ones Lyrics | 17 years ago |
whoops, i made those changes, sorry it took so long. i love how this entire page so far is filled with corrections. "my love is god and my god is love" much, much better. i love these songs that are so full of words and images without ever revealing the meaning outright. it's very mangum-esque. |
| Kevin Drew – Love 5 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It was on his myspace for a while, it's also on the "Backed out on the...." EP. | |
| Pavement – Heaven Is A Truck Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| honorary chairman, i won an award for starring on this planet. | |
| Beirut – Interior of a Dutch House Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"wave it down inside" I wish I knew what that meant. Though, according to Zach Condon, most of his lyrics don't mean much, they're just there for the sound. |
| Animal Collective – Derek Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Derek never woke up at night And in the morning he's ready to go And he never had a voice like you To scream with when he wanted something" thats all i could make out when i first heard this song. it made me think of kids with avoidant personality disorders. |
| Animal Collective – Did You See the Words Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| bands that get all cryptic and symbolic when writing songs about sex are the best. | |
| Animal Collective – Street Flash Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i listened to this on the way to school and all the lyrics sounded completely different (mostly because i couldnt pick the words out). this morning it sounded like it was about an "inside fever" that wants to get out through dancing, but you're in a place filled with people you're self conscious around. but reading these i can definitely see the weed and the tripping theme. god i want to listen to this high. |
| Beirut – Elephant Gun Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Arthur Rimbaud was shot in the hand by his lover, Paul Verlaine before leaving his home. | |
| Parenthetical Girls – Love Connection, Pt. II Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i like what some music blog said about her voice, something like "shes on the verge of crying but also sort of smiling." | |
| Parenthetical Girls – The Weight She Fell Under Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| So surreal. The stars are twinkling (you can hear them) and someone is lying dead on the railroad tracks. | |
| Arcade Fire – The Guns of Brixton (The Clash cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love the BBC video for this song. Will sings a solo! | |
| Arcade Fire – Alligator Mine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i thought of it as his lover being forced to run away from home, and even though he understands, he holds it against her for "stealing his sunlight" just the same. the way i heard: "You breathe like airs, a tourist in your heart, babe" was more like "you breathe like ere's("there" said differently) a tortoise in your heart rate" "there was a mic here." |
| Arcade Fire – Sonata Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| their older songs (even in the EP) are alot more personal and close. you can hear it in his voice. | |
| Arcade Fire – Cars and Telephones Lyrics | 17 years ago |
thescentofsummer, alot of their songs play off ideas they've really thought about that are just very touching, whether they've experienced them or no. like losing a brother named alexander or having christmas ruined by a big fire. though who knows really, except them? i'd never really looked at these lyrics until just now. it makes me wish i had someone to miss this way, rather than miss no one in particular listening to this song. |
| Animal Collective – Winter Wonder Land Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i was listening to this on a long car trip (and you know how you get crazy in there after a while) and i got to thinking this is just like "fireworks" in the way that they're comparing peoples lives to things that dont last long (snow, fireworks). only this is written from a snowmans point of view, and he's discussing with another snowman why someone would create them in the first place, if they'd melt anyway. "happiness" is point of living and he's wondering if it really exists, while rain indicates its getting warmer, and warps snowmen faces. i cant make any sense of "mold of the fawn" though. |
| Animal Collective – Leaf House Lyrics | 17 years ago |
thats what i was thinking when i first saw the name, horatii. the whole loneliness thing fits. also, animals cant get inside it. great book by the way, everyone should check a copy out. even if the connection between it and the song might be a stretch. |
| Pavement – Starlings of the Slipstream Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I've always thought of "starlings" as budding celebrities, and "slipstream" as the surrealist genre. The jet makes much more sense though. "Malkmusian gibberish," I like that. |
| The Pogues – USA Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This reminds me of Rime of the Ancient Mariner. | |
| Broken Social Scene – Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Does anyone know where the slow violinney version is supposed to have come from? I've been wondering for the longest time. It's so beautiful. | |
| Streetlight Manifesto – We Will Fall Together Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"And where we roam, we will roam forever" I always thought it was "and when we run, we will run forever." I liked it better that way. |
| Pavement – Cut Your Hair Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I can definitely see how their lyrics being open for interpretation in different ways is a big influence on Kevin Drew. | |

| Kevin Drew – Farewell to the Pressure Kids Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i'm so lame for commenting this three times in a row. but i just wanted to point out how funny it is that all these "complete, comprehensible" lyrics sites all borrowed the old version of the lyrics from here. which is just the last stanza, and not even the right words, either. | |
| Kevin Drew – Farewell to the Pressure Kids Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"with the silence that speaks to the ridlin mouths and the tongues of hate/late" riddlin or ritalin? |
| Kevin Drew – Bodhi Sappy Weekend Lyrics | 18 years ago |
it's changed. "and all the men are white and the women late this blood isn't yours" voting rights? |
| Kevin Drew – Farewell to the Pressure Kids Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| not knowing what the lyrics were, it sounds like childhood regressions and memories resurfacing from a rough childhood. | |
| Kevin Drew – Safety Bricks Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i can totally see that. "Still I want kids with safety bricks And a car that's quick So we can split" |
| Streetlight Manifesto – Down Down Down to Mephisto's Cafe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Tomas says it's about something and Scientology, which is just as silly but less believable than any of the other religions. "Just be sure to know your wrong from right" That's all anyone needs to know as far as beliefs are concerned. |
| Arcade Fire – Ocean of Noise Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I went to a concert recently and got into the moshing crowd. I was listening to this song last night, and these lines described the experience wonderfully. "An ocean of noise I first heard your voice Now who here among us Still believes in choice? Not I No way of knowing What any men will do An ocean of violence Between me and you" It wasn't a bunch of kids just trying to act hardcore, everyone was just so devoted to this band, and falling over each other from exhaustion while dancing their hearts out. It was like a religious experience. |
| Arcade Fire – The Great Arcade Fire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I always imagined the "arcade" in arcade fire meant like a temple or something. But the image with the children is much more... (there needs to be a term for this.) | |
| Arcade Fire – Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son (Serge Gainsbourg cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| If only. | |
| Arcade Fire – Intervention (Original version) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Ha, is this the one where, at the end, some guy goes, "If that din't getcher somewhere special, I feel sorry for ya." | |
| Arcade Fire – Wake Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Though I can't interpret every line here, I think that Catcher in the Rye quote was right on. Coincidentally, I started listening to this in the middle of a book called Narcissus and Goldmund, about certain people who after much suffering, realize halfway in their lives that they were meant to be artists. Afterwards, they achieve what most people can't dream of achieving or even understand, which I think is another part of what the song is about. |
| Kevin Drew – Aging Faces/Losing Places Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| THANK YOU for putting this up. | |
| Kevin Drew – Farewell to the Pressure Kids Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Is anyone used to deciphering this sort of stuff? | |
| Kevin Drew – Backed Out On The... Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Whaaat. My life is ruined. I like how he kept the title of the song ambiguous though. I also like how most of these lyrics were submitted before the actual CD came out. |
| Kevin Drew – Backed Out On The... Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is utterly amazing. and to think i thought it was "backed out on the car." it's about how people shouldn't tie themselves to any cause and just do whatever they feel is right at the moment. "everyone can write this song but they can't write you and me" amazing. |
| Arcade Fire – Born on a Train (Magnetic Fields cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| lovely song. i didn't like that he sounds so old, though i like that his voice sounds like one who's travelled alot/seen too much. i liked the magnetic fields version better. | |
| Kevin Drew – F--Ked Up Kid Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the line "if you seize the carrot from there" sounds like "if he sees the care from there." beautiful song. |
| The Magnetic Fields – The Saddest Story Ever Told Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Who sings this? Claudia or the girl who left before? I like how the summery upbeat pretty much clashes with the lyrics, in the same way moving on clashes with just about everything. |

| Au Revoir Simone – Fallen Snow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I love this, it's beautiful without trying to be. | |
| Kevin Drew – Tbtf Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"but theres nothing that you thought was wrong" That's wrong, I know. I can't figure out what it is. Anyone? |
