Farewell to the Pressure Kids Lyrics
Well the pressure kids... they own asphalt, they won't roll the die,
they just ask what they eat through the world of sick with words of shit,
or the sad songs they will love to hate,
they're just reaching through the worst of their kind
Oh the pressure kids, they're over sin's cuz they hold the die
do it all in the name of the weak and the wrong
The pressure kids they won't control the die or sue their shoes of the constant tragedy
Pressure kids they won't own the die they will love to hate
and eat through the heart 'till it all goes away
The pressure kids... they all love to play themselves, all to blame themselves
the pressure kids... they all love to play themselves,
they all just play their ends and all the giving in
Well the pressure kids, they like to escalate, believe the measurers will form an alarm
with the silence that speaks to the ridlin mouths and the tongues of hate/late
who live the save-me lives and fall into arms that will always give us away
The pressure kids...
they just ask what they eat through the world of sick with words of shit,
or the sad songs they will love to hate,
they're just reaching through the worst of their kind
do it all in the name of the weak and the wrong
and eat through the heart 'till it all goes away
the pressure kids... they all love to play themselves,
they all just play their ends and all the giving in
with the silence that speaks to the ridlin mouths and the tongues of hate/late
who live the save-me lives and fall into arms that will always give us away

Is anyone used to deciphering this sort of stuff?
The lyrics are pretty obtuse, but this song reminds me, musically and I guess by the title, of all the rock and roll types I used to hang out with who did a lot of drugs and lived crazy and listened to indie rock, (this is another song that sounds like Pavement.)
A lot of those people are no longer with us. Yeah, eventually, you have to say farewell to the pressure kids.
from the album liner:

The pressure kids...
to me, "pressure kids" are young people who want to be different just for the sake of being different.
"do it all in the name of the weak and the wrong" as in: these pressure kids justify themselves as bearers of the people's voice
"they will love to hate" is just what these pressure kids like to do.
"they all love to play themselves" means they love to indicate as if they are being themselves which is some kind of self-deception
"they all just play their ends" means they will do their part but only what they think is their part and you can't expect anything more from them
"they like to escalate, believe the measurers will form an alarm" to me means they like to raise an issue but they can't be expected to make a sustained effort to it because they expect somebody else will do just that
"who live the save-me lives and fall into arms that will always give us away" doesn't seem so obscure, the pressure kids live the kinds of lives that is essentially about them wanting to be saved (e.g. doing drugs) and falling in with the wrong people
not knowing what the lyrics were, it sounds like childhood regressions and memories resurfacing from a rough childhood.
"with the silence that speaks to the ridlin mouths and the tongues of hate/late"
riddlin or ritalin?
i'm so lame for commenting this three times in a row. but i just wanted to point out how funny it is that all these "complete, comprehensible" lyrics sites all borrowed the old version of the lyrics from here. which is just the last stanza, and not even the right words, either.
haha you're not lame ;) and by the way i love how as soon as this song starts out you just know thats it's gonna get really fast.
When I saw B.S.S recently, Kevin changed the lyrics somewhere to something like, "the pressure kids like to sit in arcades talking about themselves because that's all they ever do". For some reason, that really changed the meaning for me.
I just saw BSS recently in Portland, and I noticed that Kevin changes a lot of lyrics to a lot of the songs. I don't know if he makes them up on the spot based on the crowd/surroundings, etc...or just has a bunch of different lyrics he throws in there.

The lyrics live are also usually much more amazing and relevant to our lives. I think he does this because he doesn't really care to give everyone his real messages.

In this song he definitely said, "The pressure kids, they all need to be themselves. Oh they're givin...
In this song he definitely said, "The pressure kids, they all need to be themselves. Oh they're givin in. My pressure kids, they all need to dream themselves. So they lie (or lay) and hear themselves. Oh they're givin' in. The pressure kids. They all need to lead themselves. Get on your knees and lead yourselves. Oh they're givin' in. The pressure kids. They all need to dream themselves. So they lie(not sure) and lead themselves."
Also, they closed the show with "it's all gonna break" and he added in lyrics from cause=time and some others in the middle of the song. Like: if you always get up late you're never gonna be ontime." And he added lyrics from Major label debut, but instead of saying "you laughed when you came down" I'm pretty damn sure he said, "I think you got your life when you came down." I was tripping, but I'm pretty damn sure. It blew my mind. Oh, and he threw in new lyrics that say, "makin' it work takes a little longer. makin' it work takes a little time." Best show ever. See them.
A lot of the lyrics, esp. on Spirit if sound a lot different to me than the lyrics I've read, and I listened to the album a LOT before I ever read the lyrics. I think it's all on purpose and some of the written lyrics are just changed to hide the real ones or real meaning.
