It's kind of like those people who mooch off of others, you know? They never say anything to you or even care about you, but when they're in trouble they try to be your friend and try to get you to help them, but all you can say is, "Get lost..." and shut the door. |

| Melvins – Let It All Be Lyrics

I think this song could be directed toward several different groups, but most likely record companies. King Buzzo isn't going to be told how to write music or how to make it sound, even if that type of music isn't popular anymore. |

Oh, it just seems like a competition of who can get better stuff. The song paints a cool picture and the music video is pretty funny. |

| Corrosion Of Conformity – Vote With A Bullet Lyrics

|
I'm pretty sure the inspiration for this song came from all the bull shit politicians throw at everyone. They view regular people as insignificant beings that exist only to follow and obey. These political figures rely on normal people for power, yet they don't really care about them other than to receive their praise.
I suppose it's saying that people should fight to decide who the leaders are, instead of deciding in a popularity contest between political parties. To hell with that! Vote with a bullet. |

| Soundgarden – Big Dumb Sex Lyrics

Yeah, most of the comments for this song are correct. Big Dumb Sex is just flat out making fun of all the "lame-ass rock'n'roll and dance music of the '80s and late '70s".
This is a brilliant song. It's fun to listen to and it's great knowing that Soundgarden is giving these stupid dance and glam bands a musical bitchslap. |

I suppose the "blinders" represent someone's fear towards taking new steps, meeting new people, or trying new things. These blinders are keeping someone prisoner and unless they are opened, this life will be wasted. |

Hmm. It must be about a person who has a problem with anger management. This person is taking drugs to try to escape his/her problems and depression, yet trys to come up with excuses for why it's not their fault.
Obviously someone else is trying to help him/her, but can't because he/she is stubborn. |

Sounds like there's a person who wants to confront someone else, but can't figure out the right way to do it. It would obviously be much easier for Cupid to hit her with an arrow and help this guy out. |

| Jerry Cantrell – Pro False Idol Lyrics

Well, I believe that Pro False Idol is about a rich celebrity who does pretty much whatever they want, whenever they want and still expects people to respect and treat them like role models. Their profession is to be a false idol. They may be rich and famous, but lead empty worthless lives. |

Hmm. It sounds like it may be about a group that tries to influence the thoughts and decisions of other people in order to give strength to the group. The chrorus explains how one just deals with it. The last stanza shows how even though one just puts up with it, he still cannot have peace of mind.
I guess that sort of makes sense. |

| Pearl Jam – Black Lyrics

It seems like many people have posted that this song is about a person who has just lost someone very special and close to them. In my opinion, that is true. But, I view it from a different perspective.
To me, Black is not about a person who is living, while his true love has died. But, instead, about a person who has died, while his true love is still living.
All his pictures, memories, and thoughts have been washed in black, because he is dead and everything he once knew is gone. The Sun repesents the woman he loves and when the Sun drops away behind the horizon is sort of like the last time he ever saw her. She no longer filled his world with light.
His world is tattooed solid black, that's all he'll ever see, that's all he is, and all he'll ever be. He will be stuck in a world of black forever, while his true love continues to live.
He sings to her, "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a Sun in somebody else's sky, but why? Why?! Why can't it be? Why can't it be mine?"
He knows his woman will continue living on. She will find love again. And he knows she will be loved by someone else as well, and that she will have a wonderful life. She'll be the Sun in somebody else's sky, just like she was the Sun in his. He just wants for it to be his life, the sky, that she, the Sun, is in.
That is what I think Black is about. |

| Paw – Gasoline Lyrics

To me, this song is about how someone hides their feelings and just bottles them up. Since the person does not wish to discuss his problems, his pain takes over and starts making him miserable. He does not think things will ever get better. His pain builds up inside himself, and eventually when his sorrow is released the result is terrible. |

| Paw – Sleeping Bag Lyrics

|
Sleeping Bag is the saddest song I've ever heard in the history of my entire life. Several years ago I remember hearing this song every now and then on the radio. When I first began to listen to this type of music I learned that Mark Hennessey, the lead singer of Paw, wrote this song and dedicated it to his younger brother. He was hit by a car when they were just kids and Mark feels guilty because he thinks that he somehow could have saved him. Mark only had one brother and it broke his heart when he died, because they were such great friends.
The last stanza of this song tears me up.
By the way, you're welcome Zach. You deserve everything that Grunge music has to offer. No other type of music will entertain you more, no other type of music will teach you more, and no other type of music will make you wonder how it could be so incredible, yet no longer exists. |
