Happy Pills Lyrics

Sometimes you wake to see yourself
Take happier pills to keep you well
And sometimes you talk to hear yourself
Screaming out loud
Never ever heard a word you said
Can't you see yourself?
Can't you understand?
There's more truth in the way that you lie
But you take a stab at all that's surrounding your mind
Can't you sweep this shit to the side
It's so fucking nice to have you here
To turn our lives from what we fear
But sometimes you're worthless and weak and alone
Will you ever grow?
Here I am I want to help you out
Can't you see yourself?
Can't you understand?
There's more truth in the way that you lie
so you take a stab at all that's surrounding your mind
Well you won't believe when this cloud lifts what you might find
You'll find it's all over and can't you see it's all over
This face that stares back at you
Stares back at you, from these happy pills
They won't keep you well tonight
I'll be here to watch you shudder
I'll be the one that holds you under
Every time you try to shift it
Every time your stitch is slipping
Slipping through time
There's more truth in the way that you lie
So you take a stab at all that's surrounding your mind
Well you won't believe when this cloud lifts what you might find
Got it all over you now
Got it all over you now
Got it all over this
The face that stares back at you from these happy pills
They won't keep you well tonight

Hmm. It must be about a person who has a problem with anger management. This person is taking drugs to try to escape his/her problems and depression, yet trys to come up with excuses for why it's not their fault.

Obviously someone else is trying to help him/her, but can't because he/she is stubborn.

i don't think its about anger management problems...lol..who knows...either way yeah its about depression or inner personal problems and having to take some sort of substance or pills (I am not sure what drug the song's referring to, its not that obvious unlike other songs directly titled about drugs)...my best guess is some kind of pills, or relying on

"talking out loud" and stuff could be about the wierd shit and side effects its having on you.....but ur 2 much of a depressed person so u rely on something 2 be confident and stab everything around ur mind...he feels worthless and alone will u ever grow?"...thts pretty self explanitory.....and "slipping through time", over time relying to much on it ohly to crash later, "when this cloud lifts, these happy pills won't keep you well", once the high is ovr...it was just a temperary solution to disguise urself

I think this song is about depression and self loathing.

<i>"There's more truth in the way that you lie"</i> I guess that's the 'happy pill' doing what it's supposed to. It's making him seem mentally stable when he knows that that's not the truth. He wants to be happy (that's the truth) but a drug-induced happiness is just a lie.

<i>"Well you won't believe when this cloud lifts what you might find You'll find it's all over and can't you see it's all over"</i> That sounds like he's become addicted to the pill. He relies on it to make him happy.. When he's overcome his depression he'll find he'll still want to take the pill by force of habit, because he's addicted to it.

Idk, if I'm right but that's how I see it.

Definitely a song of the times these days and a FUCKING AMAZING one I might add! Unfortunately some take too many happy pills leading to a oath of destruction and demise - sort of the underlying meaning of the song. The reality is, we don’t need these pills to face what we fear because, ultimately, if we choose to rely on then, versus facing our fears head on, we will still be the same,if not a worse, condition once we stop taking them. A very underrated song by a very underrated band!
