| Youth Group – Daisychains Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i saw them live recently, they were really good but it was annoying because it was a free concert & the crowd kept yelling "forever young" and i yelled "daisychains" and then later on they played it and said "this is dedicated to the girl over here..." and pointed to someone else :( was heartbreaking. but i was still glad that i got to be at the front, i think the drummer saw me |

| Silverchair – Shade Lyrics | 18 years ago |
actually i beg to differ. i think this song is about how other people react to him being depressed, which would make sense considering what he's gone through. i think it's saying how people just tell you to open up and get help when sometimes you can't even make sense of what you're feeling and why you feel it. people expect you to take some kind of action and help yourself, and sometimes them telling you that only makes you feel more frustrated and misunderstood. but maybe that's just my interpretation. |
| Flyleaf – Cassie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
it's important to think for yourself and not be led by what you hear from other people. there's no need to blame someone for having a different opinion. there's no need to hurt someone for having different beliefs. lol, sorry but i just found it ironic how the song, the interpretations, the stories and the actual events all have those things in common. am i making sense? the two murderers were bullied but did have friends and it's still no excuse for taking another person's life. i mean seriously, probably everyone gets bullied at one stage in their life, in different ways. some people have more difficult experiences than others, but we all have stuggles in our life and we all have to survive and keep going and most people do, sometimes they choose the wrong way and sometimes they can't handle it, but that's because of their personality rather than their experiences, usually. i don't know if the story of cassie is real or not, i'd like to think it is but from what i know about the murderers i don't think they were against christians and you rarely find people prejudiced against christians to such an extent, not as much as other faiths such as muslims, who get called terrorists etc. i realise this so being made fun of for believing in the bible doesn't really bother me and i don't think anyone should be ridiculed because of what they believe in, not just different religions but all ideologies in general. every human being, whether you like them or disagree with them or whatever, deserves to be treated with standard respect. and no matter how hard someone's life has been, purposely taking an innocent person's life... i just can't understand it, everyone should have the choice to live their life the way they want to, because it's their life. we don't need to believe that cassie died before she believed in god to understand how tragic the columbine massacre was and that no matter what happens in your life, you should always try and stand up for what you believe in. but to believe strongly in something you must be able to question it at some point to confirm [or change] your beliefs and you must be able to see different perspectives before you understand reality. it is a difficult thing but important in almost every situation. so many people go through life existing and not really living, we don't know when our lives will end, all we can do is make the most of it. and living life to the fullest should me making our own judgement, loving and caring about people, not ignoring negative experiences/emotions but getting through them in a positive way and moving on and learning from your mistakes. we should not assume whatever we have read about this is true, but we should consider different explanations and try to put them together. and yes, the basic message in the song is still extremely powerful; in times that seem impossible will we continue to live by our beliefs and standards? it's an awesome song. it's an important message to, because we all make mistakes and there will always be times in our lives that we will feel unable to stick by our own judgement; and sometimes our own judgement is wrong as well. it inspires us to be strong in times when we consider giving up. the real issue america should be worried about is gun laws! but anyway, that's a different subject. and yeah. |
| Killing Heidi – Outside of Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
it's about being used, and you genuinely cared about them. i can relate to this, you think someone genuinely likes you but then they break up with you really carelessly and you wonder if any of it was real to them the way it was to you. but i think it actually goes: Make it last for the while, keep it with your eyes Yeah it's you they're thinking of. Lasted more than a while - turns into a style... When you feed the tree you love. Can you feel it? Do you see it? Well I mean it.. But yeah... she has such a good voice [: |
| Josh Pyke – Goldmines Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i was hoping someone would be able to explain these lyrics to me, lol. but it seems to be about spending time with someone but being scared to open up to them because you could get hurt which in the end he did? i dunno. it kinda makes sense but i dont know how to explain myself :\ help me please. |
| Silverchair – Black Tangled Heart Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i always thought it was about being depressed, and bringing people that love you down with you, or something. but yeah, that makes sense. |
| Missy Higgins – The Wrong Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
no comments ? i love this one ! it was great when she sung it on triple j. and yeah anyway, i love the lyrics. it's like feeling alone after someone has let you down, and you don't know how to carry on because it doesn't seem to be getting better, and you wonder what the point is in carrying on. i love missy. she's got such a great voice and her songs are so personal, it's great when you hear songs that you know have had a lot of heart and soul put into them. =] |
| The Departure – Be My Enemy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah, i think it's like you have mixed feelings about someone. and possibly because they are confusing you and giving you the wrong impression, and you just want them to make up their mind. people can be so frustrating. |
| COG – My Enemy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yeah, i think it's about depression. feeling like you are your own enemy. and you try to keep going but nothing seems to change. times just passing by but you're not getting anywhere. | |
| Josh Pyke – Silver Lyrics | 18 years ago |
wow i so feel like i can relate to this song. "Oh no, what have I done, all of these stitches have split one by one" everything that was holding him together has slowly come undone. "Oh now I see the design, the intricate framework to which i align All my anguish and my happiness, but I got not time for this mess" he realises what he was relying on, and that he can't anymore because he has other things he needs to concentrate on "Come down, come down with me, to check on the ashes of my history I can't leave them alone, but sometimes I wish they would rot down below But on the contrary, these fires flourish in me." he's had hard times in the past but he's got through it, but they influence who he is now and he sometines wishes he could erase the memories but on the contrary, he knows he's alive, he has passions and things to live for? (not sure how to explain that part, but it makes sense in my mind lol) "And I lay just 'fore I wake and you catch the sun and throw it down on my face I know you're plotting my course, still influencing my dreams silver seahorse I feel the mixture in me, fire and water musical ubiquity" at first i thought the first line was like something great happening all of a sudden that he didnt expect, but maybe it's saying he was about to wake up to something and then the "silver seahorse" threw the sun down on his face, woke him up in an instant? lol, again, i have thoughts but it's hard to explain them. i think the next line with the silver seahorse is feeling like someone who isn't there anymore, you are still having dreams of them and still feel they're controlling how you feel? i feel the mixture in me i think is saying that he's a mixture of optomistic and pessimistic, or happy and sad, or something. "And I know you're never quite there, satisfaction eluding you like clean air" they're really not there though, maybe the next line is saying that they were satisfied and then disappeared? "One day I'll float on the tide, silver seahorse on a string mirrors the sky" one day he'll be able to breathe again, and the next line doesn't make much sense to me lol. "I'll be alone on the sea, waiting for the sky to engulf me." he's alone but he'll wait for something good to come along, or for him to be lifted up in some way? perhaps by something or someone "But out here alone on the night, my silver seahorse reflecting the light I flash the ray 'cross the sea, hoping this beam still connects you to me I know the tides changing my course, but I'm still the one who believes in my silver seahorse" he knows he should let go because it's just a dream, but he feels he's unable to, he hopes he doesn't need to, he still believes. "But on the whole, or on the contrary, it's not alright, alright. And falling through defects and consequential loss, it's not alright, alright." he can't handle it, and he's experienced loss? and it's not alright. probably different to what josh pyke actually wrote the song about, but that's what it means to me and that's the only way i can interpret it. sometimes that's good with songs, you don't need to know exactly what they're about but relate to them in your own way. |

| Antiskeptic – Letting Go Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| actually, after more thinking about it, i think this song is exactly how i'm feeling right now. i know what's wrong and that i shouldn't be depressed over certain things and i should just move on with my life, but i can't for some reason. cause i try but it never goes away. | |
| Antiskeptic – Letting Go Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i feel like that all the time, like you know you can do things and there's just something holding you back. it's impossible and it's frustrating and you can't let go. | |
| Train – Drops of Jupiter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
from what i gather from the lyrics & other people's comments, it seems this song is not so much about a particular story/person but certain experiences and feelings. "Now that she's back in the atmosphere With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey" she's finally back and she's changed, he learns things from her. "Tell me did you sail across the sun Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated" asking her about her experiences, did she find all she wanted to find? "Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star One without a permanent scar And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there" did you find someone amzaing, someone without a scar, unlike me (?) and did you miss me? "Now that she's back from that soul vacation Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey, hey" possibly saying that things can come together differently to how you think they would? "Now that she's back in the atmosphere I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land" will she see me differently now? i get the impression he is the man who was too afraid to fly so he never did land "Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back to the Milky Way And tell me, did Venus blow your mind Was it everything you wanted to find And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone conversation The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me" i never understood why he said 'deep fried chicken' :| he thinks that although shes had new adventures, he wonders if she appreciated the things she had before or if she took them for granted, including him "Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back toward the Milky Way" =] i like songs that make me think. i dont know, thats what i got out of it... maybe part of the reason why it got so popular is because everyone can relate to it in some ways. i think it's one of those songs you're not supposed to completely understand, but just think about. i found it easier to break it down, it's so complexed. so yeah. |

| Antiskeptic – Called Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think maybe this song is kind of about christians who don't live by what they teach They said that he’d come down the mountain, up and Come and take control They said that he’d come down the mountain, up and Come and take control All the same, you sit and close your arms and pray Moderation in all action must rise above and take its place don’t you know? All the same, you don’t really know me All the same, you don’t sit and hold me All the same, you don’t hear, console me All the same, you don’t really know me what do you guys reckon? anyway yeah really catchy song & awesome band. no ones really talking about the lyrics in the song... |

| The Butterfly Effect – Take It Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
you could be right, but i think its about a relationship with a person, and they treat you like complete crap, but you still care about them and try to make everything better. 'I know the reasons why You cut to the quick But still I try It’s all I can see And so it goes' and maybe eventually they get fed up ? |
