Goldmines Lyrics

Dark night, it's a dark night.
And you can feel it, out with the big cats.
And there's a jaw trap, and there's a razor net.
And it's a dark night,
so paint your necks red,
so we can see you.

Vastness, there's a vastness,
and it looks empty,
but it's really full up to the brim.
And you can taste it,
like a battery on your tongue,
electricity passing particle, to particle, to particle.

And I’m gonna need some proof,
I'm gonna need some proof,
so set your traps right before I lay my money out for you.

Decision or indecision,
is it safer to stay in the light where I can see them?
But there was nothing there,
but you could feel the hum.
And it could core you like an apple kid,
or burn you 'til you turn to dust.

And I'm gonna need some proof,
I'm gonna need some proof,
so set your traps right before I lay my money out for you.

Buzz saw in the ears for days
and there's only so much a man can take
before crack, crack, crack, cracking in.
Buzz saw in the ears for days and there's only so much a man can take
before crack, crack, crack, cracking in.

Car ride,
we'll take a car ride,
out to the country,
to see the goldmines.
See where that hill ends?
That's where it all began,
and it was teeming then,
now it's a fucking wasteland, and it's such a waste man.

And I'm gonna need some proof,
I'm gonna need some proof,
so set your traps right before I lay my money out for you.
And I'm gonna need some proof,
I'm gonna need some proof,
so set your traps right before I lay my money out for you.

Buzz saw in the ears for days
and there's only so much a man can take
before crack, crack, crack, cracking in.
Buzz saw in the ears for days and there's only so much a man can take
before crack, crack, crack, cracking in.

no comments?

why?

Probably cause no one has anything worthwhile to say except no comments?

why?

Will come back and give it a whirl when I've got a bit more time (and not just procrastinating)

The meaning to this song for me is its about a persons journey with a loved one who is on some sort of addiction. The loved one hides it, and lies and says they need money for other things but in truth they are wasting their life away, "and its such a waste man". The person cannot trust their loved one and are at odds at how to fix them "is it safer to stay in the light where I can see them?" The relationship is failing and its breaking this persons heart, but its soo hard to let go as the person keeps remembering how good the relationship used to be. Any thoughts?

yet another beautiful song by josh pyke

the lines "to see the goldmines. See where that hill ends? That's where it all began, and it was teeming then, now it's a fucking wasteland, and it's such a waste man. "

possibly meaning the 'goldmine' as the relationship starting off greatly, now it's a fucking wasteland since he knows what they are up to, etc.

however, upon reading aja182's comment i'm not sure how to go about interpreting it.however, i'm sure it's open to interpretation - them having some sort of an addiction, cheating on them, some sort of secret life which he knows is true but has no proof of. i also think the swears in the last line add to the feeling and really are neccessary, contrary to what many people say.
