| Hockey – Too Fake Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I like how he says: But I can't even talk to you 'bout my effect on people 'cause i'm doin' the same thing to you That's right even right now It's like saying that even though this song is about how he has to put on an act for people and be fake, he's doing it in this song anyway. So it's like, what can we trust? Interesting :) & so catchy! |

| Paul Dempsey – Ramona Was A Waitress Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I interpret it as about a stranger, Ramona, who committed suicide. My favourite part; "The waking life, stitched together in your head Well, what if it's only worth the bundle of nerves it's written on?" Love this song. <3 |

| Andrew Bird – Fitz and the Dizzyspells Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Damnit! I thought with 5 comments someone would have maybe suggested what he was actually talking about. Because I really have no idea & I'd love to know someone else's thoughts...? | |
| Faded Paper Figures – The Persuaded Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Adorno = Theodor W. Adorno, german sociologist and philosopher. adcult = the novel "Adcult USA", a book by James Twitchell on advertising & consumerism. Rapaille = Clotaire Rapaille, a french market researcher who is known for advising advertisers on how to influence people's unconscious decision making. Omnicom = one of the world's largest advertising agencies Noam Chomsky = American linguist & philosopher... not too sure what specifically he did? Yeahhh... clearly just about like consumerism and brain washing in advertising. Sick song, love it. |

| Faded Paper Figures – Metropolis Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I view it as like... a bit of a look at modern cities, and how unfulfilling modern life is. Or something. Like; "Now information without flesh/means your body's just a drive". And how all the glass and perfection is a bit of a facade, maybe? | |
| Faded Paper Figures – North By North Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Can't stop listenning to this song - it's so great. It reminds me so much of a mix between The Postal Service and Angus & Julia Stone. Such pretty lyrics too. | |
| Empire of the Sun – Walking on a Dream Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Such a great song, and the video clip is just as trippy as the song. Love it. | |
| Midlake – Young Bride Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with it being about an illness - I always thought it was anorexia. Hmmm. | |
| The Maccabees – Toothpaste Kisses Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I've always thought this song had another meaning! I thought it was kind of a song about an abusive relationship, lol. But I think I had all the lyrics wrong, see this is what I thought: "Pulling shapes just for your eyes" - he fools her and does things to appear that he loves her "So with toothpaste kisses and lies" - I know these are the wrong lyrics, but this is what I heard them as - kind of referencing the sterile relationship with 'toothpaste kisses' and of course, lying to eachother "We'll do the things that lovers do" - trying to make it work "Put the stars in our eyes" - fooling themselves "And with heart-shaped bruises" - maybe abuse? Anyway. I'm sure its not what the writer planned. But just showing that there could be other meanings, I don't know... |

| Eskimo Joe – London Bombs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, this is what Kav Temperley said (a member of the band): "A song like London Bombs is personal, but it's set against a much more political, worldly backdrop. I'm not actually talking about the London bombs, but the distraction at that particular moment in time." I don't really know what that means. lol. But when I listen to it I still think I'm going to assume its about the London bombings. Some other guy described it as a "lighters-in-the-air, handkerchief-to-the-eye, unashamed balled for the masses" kinda song - I couldn't agree more. |

| Eskimo Joe – London Bombs Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I agree, I love this song. I would be surprised it if wasn't about the actual London bombings... | |
| Cannibal Corpse – A Skull Full Of Maggots Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I get that people like death metal and this kinda music. I dont really understand why, but I acknowledge that some people just enjoy the music. But this song in particular, this just makes me want to laugh. It sounds like some sort of parody of themselves. |
|
| Lily Allen – LDN Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I listenned to this SO many times before I decided to look up the lyrics and I was so suprised that it wasnt really just a fun chirpy happy song. But you're right spiderman, the deception of the song just reflects on the lyrics. | |

| Augie March – One Crowded Hour Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Wooow, this is one song where the meaning doesn't particularly matter to me because I'm sure if i find out what it means I will like it less, because at the moment its just a gorgeous love song to me :) Its strange, I love the tune and the lyrics but I think one thing which made me particularly drawn to it is the fact that I think the lead singer of Augie March looks like the husband of Drew Barrymore in Riding in Cars With Boys. I am so wierd. |
|
| Ween – Gabrielle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Oh my god, i cannot believe no-one has commented on this song yet, its such a good song. It makes me want to name my child Gabrielle, lol. I think it's pertty obvious what it's about though - its about a guy who obviously had a fight with his girl but wrote this song to apologize and show how much he loves her. I love this song to bits xD |
|
| Hot Hot Heat – Middle of Nowhere Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this is just awesome, such a feel good song. it's my new holiday anthem now :) yay! | |
| Faker – Hurricane Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I agree, only 3 posts? This song is the best, it got #21 on triple j hottest 100... i personally think it deserved better... Anyway, I agree about the meaning being something to do with this stupid kid not fitting in... but then there's that part about "Hurricane knew you would Knew you would, yeah knew you would" Which is a bit random... |

| Natasha Bedingfield – Unwritten Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I know that some people don't like this song cause it's like "pop", but really the lyrics are beautiful I think that everyone should listen to this song atleast once. I swear, it would inspire so many people and get them living their lives. Its so refreshing the first time you hear it. |
|
| Okkervil River – Red Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This song is so beautiful, its such a lovely happy song after all the other sad depressing okkervil river ones. Anyway I thought the meaning was pretty self explanitory, like, it's about a guy who takes a girl home and her life is pretty messed up and she feels distant from her mother, and her mother also feels like she's distant from her daughter, and he basically tells her that they havent forgotten eachother. I didnt explain that very well, but yeah. God I love this song. |
