Toothpaste Kisses Lyrics
Cradle me
I'll cradle you
I'll win your heart
With a whoop-a-woo
Pulling shapes just for your eyes
So with toothpaste kisses and lines
I'll be yours and you'll be...
Lay with me
I'll lay with you
We'll do the things that lovers do
Put the stars in our eyes
And with heart-shaped bruises
And late-night kisses divine
So with toothpaste kisses and lines
Stay with me
Stay with you
Doing things that lovers do
What else to do?
I'll cradle you
I'll win your heart
With a whoop-a-woo
Pulling shapes just for your eyes
So with toothpaste kisses and lines
I'll be yours and you'll be...
I'll lay with you
We'll do the things that lovers do
Put the stars in our eyes
And with heart-shaped bruises
And late-night kisses divine
Stay with you
Doing things that lovers do
What else to do?

i feel like this song is about two people that are both damaged from past relationships. like in the beginning it says "Cradle me, I'll cradle you" like two people trying to console one another.
then it says later on "we'll do the things that lovers do" as if they know they're acting. they're doing the things that lovers do, but not really acting out of true passion.
and finally, the line that made me realize that this is what the song's about, is when he says: "and with heart-shaped bruises," which to me is saying that both their hearts are now bruises, because they're both damaged by their pasts.
yes? no?
"Cradle me, I'll cradle you"- snuggle wuggle "ill win your heart w/a whoop-a-woo" - flirting. trying to win her over. "pulling shapes just for your eyes" - & agian flirting. showing her what she wants to see. "toothpaste kisses and lines" - i thought maybe it meant fresh kisses and fresh compliments .. that win her over. "lay w/me ill lay w/you" - the relationship grows stronger "things that lovers do" - sex "stars in eyes" -falling in love "& heart shaped bruises" - Hickies. "staywithmestaywithyou what else to do?" - its as if they found true love, and nothing else matters
adorable.

This song isn't about an abusive relationship, it's about waking up and going to sleep with the person you love.
The heart shaped bruises are hickeys or the marks left after you feel like your heart is bursting out of your chest when you're around that person.
Kind of like in the cartoons when the characters heart beats wildly out of their chest when they see someone attractive.
Its a story of two people falling in love. It starts out as a simple relationship, they are trying to win eachother over.. and eventually it works. Hugging kissing..laughing, flirting.. As time goes on hey then have sex, doing things lovers do. They start to fall in love.. and feel they will be together for ever.. even if they are not certain.
I like how someone mentioned toothpaste kisses reminding them of 2 lovers kissing before bed... i think it has 2 meanings... that at first it was this simple of fresh loveing kisses. Then later on symbolizing just that, kisses before bed. A relationship that has lasted. :) oh what a cute song lol
did anyone else notice that some of the lyrics in this song are the same as the lyrics in 'the bore'?
minty fresh love, beautiful
minty fresh love, beautiful
pretty sure it's toothpaste kisses and lines not two-faced kisses and lies..
