Too Fake

Hi everyone, I'm new. Thought i'd do my first post on this song because this band is AMAZING.

Anyway, I think this song's about how the singer feels he has to always be "fake" about everything if that makes sense, he can't show his true feelings or emotions if he wants to be successful or liked.

This is "breaking [his] heart in two" as he "can't even talk to you 'bout [his] effect on people 'cause [he's] doin' the same thing to you That's right even right now" He thinks he's got "too much soul for the world".

So yeah, that's what I think. Can't believe no-one else has posted on this song yet!

I'm more of a rocker as well but this song is pretty tight..i agree w/ y'all he cant be himself w/ anyone he enjoys it but hates it torn between it.. I'm leaning towards alternative rock now that where the musics at.

i think it's about someone who feels they have to do everything others want (perhaps to fit in), which they really cannot help themselves from doing.

I think it's "Church if" not Churchill. It makes more sense. Anyway I love this song so freakin much! UHHHH! It was stuck in my head all day yesterday. I was singing it out loud on the tennis courts, much to the dismay of the guys playing beside me. Hahaha! Too funny. I think this is a song mocking people who think they are so "above everyone". People who think they fool everyone but are only fooling themselves. Anyway I love singing about being fake like it's a GOOD thing, cause it's not. Oh, the irony...

I think the key to this song lies with this lyric: "Oh you know it's just a game to me" There are some ancient religions who view life as a game. So this seemingly unholy view of the world is actual spiritual in nature which is why he's says he's got too much soul for the world. How he plays the game is he stays light and tells people what they want to hear adhering to the path of least resistance "I do anything that I'm told to I even mean it, if i'm supposed to" ...but he knows the truth: "It's time to use my life, for myself, Those people just won't tell you that"

"But I can't even talk to you 'bout my effect on people 'cause i'm doin' the same thing to you That's right even right now" This is a great line where he tries to see if other people will understand him but of course people won't.

This song is awesome.

I like how he says:

It's like saying that even though this song is about how he has to put on an act for people and be fake, he's doing it in this song anyway. So it's like, what can we trust?

This song is really amazing. Somehow it's interesting and confuse at the same time, but in a good sense :) I love it!

Btw, does anyone know the lyrics for Hockey's song "Learn To Lose"? I can't find them anywhere! Tks. :)

JCPenny put this in there "Back To School" commercial! They spliced it alot but it's good. They have another commercial out now that also has a good song but I don't know what it is. If you know please post here.

Nobody's watchin' But everybody cares" those are some of my favorite lyrics of all songs. We all know that's how society works. You say you "care" about something important, but they're just words, but when something's a real matter for people and dwe should help, everybody has better insignificant things to do.

I think is about (as said before) about doing what everybody else wants, what everybody likes, even if is pathetic and you're being fake. And this song is a turning point where you realize that you have to be fake, but you don't want to, so you look for REAL help, but you can't find it. But still, he tries to be real, because he's got too much soul.

It also sounds funny, like saying how great, and how pleasent it is to be fake and arrogant at the same time, while you understand is just a big JOKE!! "Oh whatever talk to you later"
