I think a lot of people can relate to this song. I know I can. Copeland is so good at that: writing brilliant songs that everyone can relate to in some way. |

This song is really beautiful. The way they use "starved for your attention" evokes that feeling that everyone can relate to. So good, so good. |

I think he's refering to a relationship he once had with a younger chick (looking for a girl like my mom closer to my age). And how he wasted a lot of his life/time and is sort of apologizing for it. All these songs are his poetry that reflects his life. I'm catching some references to looking for a girl/soulmate. Good stuff. They will get real big especially with Brothers, Sisters out. |

He's talking about how he wants to be closer to God and he's willing ot do anything ot achieve that. I he's wondering why he hasn't gotten married (unless he is married, I don't know) or met anyone (technically a virgin) and he's wondering if he ever will (whats 50 more). Good stuff. |

yeah, he's talking about a time when he tried to do things on his own without "the holy ghost"'s help. And now he's regretting it and turning around. |

| Watashi-Wa – All Of Me Lyrics

I think he's refering to giving himself to God. Or standing up for someone, I can't tell. Good song. Its' too bad they broke up. Haven't heard anything from Seth's new band, Eager Seas though. |

| Watashi-Wa – 2:57 Lyrics
|
|
The first stanza refers to a suicide. The third refers to a girl who had to prostitue herself (red light nights) in order to make enough money to survive. It makes a good point and I'm sure the title refers to a Bible verse, but I'm not sure which. Is it just me, or do all their songs sound like Christmas? |

| Watashi-Wa – 10 Years and Separating States Lyrics

This song is pretty great. I especially like the line about "doing all our thinking out loud". I think a lot of people can relate to this song. Relationships, regrets, late nights, talking. Good stuff. |

| August Burns Red – The Seventh Trumpet Lyrics

This is clearly a reference to Revelations (seventh trumpet, stars falling) and Jesus coming back. He's ready, but sees that everyone else is still consumed wiht this world. |

| August Burns Red – Consumer Lyrics

He's condemning self-centerdness and that if we allow it to consume us and preoccupy us then we'll end up "looking back with sorrow". Great message. |

| August Burns Red – Your Little Suburbia Is In Ruins Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
|
He's saying we need to see what's going on around us and step out of our comfort zones to help others. We need to get rid of monotony or we'll end up regretting it later. In that case, I should probably get off the computer... |

| August Burns Red – The Reflective Property Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
|
Ha, I love the line "Zoloft will not cure it". He's remembering a time in his life and reflecting back on a time when he became depressed and (I think) found comfort in Jesus. And he's urging us to do the same and spread this comfort to "a starving nation facing death and destruction". |

| August Burns Red – Speech Impediment Lyrics

This is such a great song. I agree and think he's talking about Jesus (he whistles to a song of hope). I really like his phrasing (put your heart where your mouth is), he's saying to back up your words with your actions. |

| August Burns Red – Barbarian Lyrics

It's pretty much about not being so negative and enjoying life with a positive view. But it's also saying we should place our values in things that are actually important. |

| August Burns Red – Too Late For Roses Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
|
I think the last line is "give it all up for nothing". Anyway, this song's about seeing someone you care about just start screwing around and messing up and not letting them drag you down too. Hence, it's "too late for roses" to make the situation better. |

| Sullivan – Under The Watchful Eyes Of Dr. Tj Eckleburg Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
Are these the same lyrics as "Hey I'm A Ghost"? At any rate it's a reference to The Great Gatsby where there's a sign for a glasses shop with a large picture of the eyes of Dr. TJ Ecklberg. And throughout the book that sign and the eyes represent the eyes of God watching the characters as they play their charades and sins.
And this is what the song is about: that everyone is screwing up and they think they're being all secretive and clandestine, but God knows. |

| Sullivan – The Charity of Saint Elizabeth Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
|
I think its about some kid dying in a hospital (references to orderlies and beds). And the singer's saying "I see what's going on" and he's intrigued but insists he's not going to be the next person death steals. Sort of weird. I don't think he meant for people to fully understand it. |

| Sullivan – Ten Ways To Impress Lyrics
|
|
I think he's condemning the way some rich chick treats things. She has "lavish homes" but her heart is pretty bad. She doesn't take things seriously (how dare you treat this the same way). I agree with compulsiveslacker as far as the rest of it. |
submissions
| Sullivan – Hey, I'm A Ghost Lyrics
|
|
Yeah, that's pretty much it. I think he might be abusing her a little too (as if you can abuse someone "a little"), hence the references to her black eye. There seem to be lot of references to abuse and cheating, so I'm guessing this happened ot them or a friend. |
submissions
| Sullivan – How I Remember You (real) Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
|
This is a pretty sick song and I'm sure there's a story behind it that really hits home with Sullivan, but my closest guess is there's this chick that's been screwing up and he's questioning why she does this. Does "breaking her edge" refer to straightedge and mean that she's having sex? I've never heard the term before... |

| Vanna – A Dead Language For A Dying Lady Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
|
Um...I just thought it was pretty straightforward about a lady who refuses to die. "She speaks as if someone's in the room with her" means she's praying for Jesus to relieve her pain. And she just keeps trusting in Him (running towards the light) and in the end He pulls her through (save your goodbyes, we all know its not the end). Great song. |

Like the first person said, this is straight out of Ecclesiastes in the Bible. In there, the author talks about how everything is meaningless and a "chasing after the wind". This is a great song. |

| As Cities Burn – One: TwentySeven Lyrics

Sick. Very good stuff. I like how they make direct references to the Bible. You can't go wrong with that. I like how poetic it is, not quite as melodic as some other stuff out there, but they get their point across. "All that I am is because YOur love endures my back to it". Good stuff. |

| Haste the Day – Blue 42 Lyrics

This song has some sick riffs in it. It seems to be about coming to Christ and not turning back. I think the title stands for a call to arms of sorts, like in football when they say "blue 42" and then go 'do battle' with the other play. |

| The Showdown – Iscariot Lyrics

judging by the name and numerous references, i would say this is about Judas Iscariot's betrayal of Jesus. Judas was a close friend of Jesus and agreed to have him killed in return for 30 pieces of silver. he then threw the money into a potter's field and hung himself because he realized what he had done. he is known as the traitor so this is about him. |

| The Showdown – Hell Can't Stop Us Now Lyrics
| 20 years ago

this song is pretty much straight out of Revelations. it references 'the great accuser...ancient serpent' (Satan) and is telling him that his time is short and soon he will be destroyed. this seems to be a theme in the showdown's songs. not an unusual topic for a christian metal band thought. rock on. and pay attention to these songs. they speak truth. |

| The Showdown – Epic: A Chorus of Obliteration Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
This song is about a time in the Old Testament during the 40 years the Israelites were sent to wander in the desert. they were on their way to the promised land and the walled city of JEricho stood in their way. The people of Jericho wouldn't let them pass so the Lord told them to march around the city and blow trumpets and sing. When they did this, the walls crumbled and the Israelites could go on their way.
This song makes references to this incident of God's strength and it sounds pretty good. |

| The Showdown – A Monument Encased In Ash Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
this is a pretty dank metal song and i don't especially like metal, just hardcore. it just like most of the showdown's songs, is about the last days where God pours out his wrath on the world and the believers are raised from death. the reference to 'the One whose might is untold' is to Jesus and 'the stench of Sodom' is used in the Bible to represent evil and straying from purity and good.
This song has a good message and some pretty cool guitar riffs too. |
