Speech Impediment Lyrics
Your due date is up. Don't make comments on irrelevant subjects. There is a man who seeks his own happiness, and his smile is warmer than five of yours. You keep singing to a tasteless song. He whistles to a song of hope. A night of foolish chatter is easily replaced by a couple bold statements. Few words are gold, and living is offensive in itself. You shallow ideals are about as useless as the gnats in my eyes. Wake up. Put your heart where your mouth is.

He repeats the "Wake up" theme throughout the album. These guys remind me of me in the cynical writing at a young age thing...
I think he is refering to the second coming of jesus and being judged by the lamb etc "There is a man who seeks his own happiness, and his smile is warmer than five of yours." I think he is speaking about jesus. Other then that i know nothing
Well, I'm a ska fan through and through, but I'm glad to see that the media is being infiltrated by some awesome truths and themes. Totally righteous
This is such a great song. I agree and think he's talking about Jesus (he whistles to a song of hope). I really like his phrasing (put your heart where your mouth is), he's saying to back up your words with your actions.
love this band! they are from Pennsylvania so its PA Pride (yeah im from PA)
okk lets get down to business i love this song 2 death there are 2 options
im going w/ the second option because there really isnt any HARD evidence if its about God and it fits perfectly
"There is a man who seeks his own happiness, and his smile is warmer than five of yours."
i think Jake is talkin about himself and how he found his happiness and his smile is warmer then everyone else in the town because he got out of there
"You keep singing to a tasteless song. He whistles to a song of hope"
Jake is prop talkin about bands that arent very talented and how kids fall easily for the catchy hooks

I think he is refering to Jesus and us being judged by God. Then I think he goes after two types of people. 1. People who have not accepted Jesus into their life and need to wake up to it and 2. People who speak of being religous and faithful but do not have anything to backup their words.
I agree with strikebr5146.
I think this song is about people who spend there days judging others and telling them how to live their lives. They write books such as 10 ways to improve your life... but their life is just a miserable as everyone else's. i think what it is really saying is that instead of telling everyone else whats wrong with them and just giving them so much talk about how to be better, that person needs to start thinking about how they can be a better person, and instead of lecturing others, help them along with few words instead of a huge lecture.-- A night of foolish chatter is easily replaced by a couple bold statements-- WE need to be concerned with how we live our lives before we tell others how to live theirs Matthew 7:3
the line, "a night of foolish chatter is easily replaced by a couple bold statements" is true. when me and my friends are together we just goof off and r never serious. but when someone actually says something serious and heartfelt then that "bold statement" is what people remember after that, not the "foolish chatter."
