"I guess it's just common sense to preach what ought to be but ensure it never is in the present tense." Can anyone tell me what this line means exactly? This song is amazing. |

| This song is pretty self-explanitory. "Cronie" was Chris' cat, named after the singer of the band Venom, Cronos. | |

Abelprisc explained things very well. Chris Hannah (the lead singer/guitarist of Propagandhi) recently did an interview with veganfreakradio.com elaborating on this song. He said he took his 6 year old niece to a hockey game and they had an intermission to pay honor to the troops, and the soldiers literally rappelled down from the rafters of the arena. His niece asked him why they had guns, and he took her and walked out on the game. You can download/listen to the whole interview here: http://veganfreakradio.com/audio/veganfreak-2009-03-05-86613.mp3 He also talks about some other new songs from Supporting Caste. |

Fagnasty: Fat Wreck Chords is in no way owned by Epitaph Records. I don't know where you got that brilliant idea. It is owned and run by Fat Mike and his wife Erin. It's amazing the things that people come up with! Anyway, this song is awesome. One of my faves by AM! for sure. I saw them play it last night and it was an amazing experience! |

| Alkaline Trio – While You're Waiting Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"There's a hope in my head That's been cut and bleed Dry as your bloodshot eyes And there's smoke in the air And it's soon to clear Revealing our demise There are some who say That it's a-okay If it makes you feel all right It's just way too bad Now you're worse than sad All locked up there in side" I don't believe this song is about a breakup, but rather drug abuse that is tearing a friendship apart. The guy is saying that some people use drugs simply to feel good or escape depression, but unfortunately the drug abuse and addiction is making his friend's depression even worse to the point where she is suicidal. "And I don't know how you feel But I'll make you a deal If you'll make it out alive My shoulders and ears Are all yours, my dear I hope it comes as no surprise You've been known to say That you're a-okay When you're feeling sick inside I just want you to know I got no place to go Until the day you die While you're waiting Be thankful for your fingers I'll be fading With the colors of your pictures 'I'm not crying wolf,' you whisper, 'I'm really dead this time... I'm really dead this time'" She has threatened or attempted suicide or self mutilation quite a few times (crying wolf) and he has become tired of it. He is saying that if and when she is ready to admit that she is wrong and has a problem, he will be there for her to lean on for support. The lyrics are using Torture/torture chambers as a metaphor for drugs taking hold and slowly ruining the girl's life. He is done waiting for her, and if she waits for him or takes no action, her problem is only going to get worse. "They locked you up They threw away the key Sutured your mouth shut Murdered your family Right before your eyes What could you do? Right before your eyes They took it all form you" The drugs make it hard for her to seek help from her friends and family, and all of her freedom is now gone because of it. She is cut off from reality and it's torturous to her. "Contemplating You hanging from your ceiling Can't help hating You for having that feeling I'm not joking when I tell you I'd miss you all the time I already miss you all the time " He hates her for being suicidal, and he misses his friend and the happiness that she once brought him. Although she isn't dead yet, the drugs and depression have made her a completely different person and he feels as though she is already gone. Someone mentioned the song's handclaps being "sarcastic" and I can totally see that. Metaphorically speaking, I think the handclaps could represent how people joke about serious problems to distance themselves from them, a sort of "nervous laugh" if you will. I hope this helped. -Seth |

| Against Me! – Searching for a Former Clarity Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I think they are using homosexuality/AIDS as a metaphor for the band itself. the song parallels between the person and the band. It's saying that the subject might not be accepted by loved ones for being gay, just like the band is shunned for many of the decisions they make. But when he dies, or the band breaks up, their loved ones/the fans will forgive them and remember everything good instead of the things they disagree with. As shown in these lyrics: "As the lights blended into the continuing noise. As all hope was finally lost, adrenaline carried one last thought to throughition. Let this be the end. Let this be the last song. Let this be the end. Let all be forgiven. " Did I explain that okay? |

| NOFX – Bath Of Least Resistance Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"so put me in a room, right next to Nicholson" That's a reference to the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" where Jack Nicholson plays a rebel kind of character who goes to a mental institution and tries to get the other patients to rallie against an opressive nurse. He ends up getting a lobotomy at the end...and well, I won't give away too much. Great song though, cool bass. Kind of a different take on "Teenage Lobotomy" by the Ramones. |

| Propagandhi – Rock For Sustainable Capitalism Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "Propagandhicious" seems to have hit the nail on the head. I think people need to realize that Propagandhi and NOFX aren't really mad at each other or anything. It's just tough love - constructive criticism. There's nothing wrong with that. Fat Mike has said many times that he thinks Propagandhi are the most important band on Fat Wreck Chords, as well as the band he's most proud to have on his label. I think that Propagandhi just feel that these bigger bands could be using their influences more constructively. They're right. They aren't afraid to call people out for their shit, and that's good. NOFX is often the same way, if you've ever heard Mike's rambles during a live performance. | |

| None More Black – You Suck! But Your Peanut Butter Is OK Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I actually found an interview where singer/guitarist Jason Shevchuk explains the song and title. I was right! Here's what he had to say. "Yea that's written about a specific thing... it's the only specific case on the record, only thing that is actually about a certain situation. We were on tour with Against Me!, it was right after their Fat debut had come out. And for some crazy reasons, they were getting a lot of shit for signing to Fat. A lot of their diehard fans were really giving them shit because of it. Anyone who had anything to say to them, they would welcome them with their open arms, they would invite them to backstage. And one night in Pittsburgh, these kids approached the band with all these insults about the direction of the band while eating the band's food and drinking their beer! And that's where the title came from, these guys eating a peanut butter sandwich, like "you guys are terrible, but I'll eat your food, I'll eat what you've been rewarded as a touring band". The song is not about Against Me! in particular, it's about a certain person who treated them with disrespect." Funny stuff. Here's the entire interview. http://batman.jypoly.fi/~c2451/musiikki_jasonshevchuk_eng.htm |

| None More Black – You Suck! But Your Peanut Butter Is OK Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's a criticism of Against Me!'s fans bitching that they signed to a major. Or any punk band really. It's about how all the kids turn their backs and talk shit on their favorite bands for signing to majors when those bands are just trying to support themselves and make a better living. Fuck the kids sometimes. | |

| Coheed and Cambria – Welcome Home Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Hmm, I think this song is about Claudio and Newo. And I agree and think Newo did something to betray him, but I also think Claudio is reluctantly forgiving her and saying basically, "look, you can join me to stop my father, or you can give in to him." because I also think she is having trouble deciding which direction to go. So he says he loves her very much and he wants her to join him and this is her chance, but if she wants to betray him again then she can fuck off, he doesn't need her. Wezilla's explanation is interesting, though I'd be happier if it followed the actual story. |

| Alkaline Trio – Hell Yes Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song is about turning to God and religion because his friends say faith will make him content, but it doesn\'t and despite his faith God never helped him, so he resorts to Satan and sinning, and then he is happy. It\'s just a funny song. | |
| NOFX – The Decline Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I didn't read most of these comments because they are lame, but this is the most amazing song in punk music's history. The raw emotion and mixture of anger, sadness, and desperation Fat Mike carries with his voice is unbelievable. It is an incredibly eye-opening song. The first time I heard it my jaw dropped. It deals with many political issues which are relatively obvious such as guns, drugs, and religion. Fat Mike is neither a democrat or republican, but he just thinks it's rediculous how the majority of americans just sit back and watch everything fall a part, they don't even use their voice to speak out because they only care about themselves. And he thinks the country thinking as a whole is better than one dumbshit as president, which is true. Basicly he's saying that the country's carlessness will lead to it's demise, or perhaps it already is. It's a truely amazing song, the music is very intricate and just flawless. | |
| NOFX – East Bay Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Instead of making fun of the rock scenesters from Los Angeles (El Lay), they change the lyrics to make fun of the punk scenesters from East Bay. Short but genius. | |
