it sounds like the music industry speaking to the "kids", the "kids" being members of bands such as GAD. the "golden rules" of the business is to look out for yourself at other's expenses. only do favors for people if they will do you a favor in return. "use who you can on your way to the middle" meaning step on other's shoulders while working your way to the top, even though you will only make it to the middle. on my first listen, it sounds like having a great time with friends and growing up playing video games. (i didnt know all the local british facts or jargon, since im american) he says "smoking chronic, hectic!" that was important to me cause of the later line: "oh if i could kidnap that feeling the one that melts all fears from your mind id make no demands, no ransoms cause id never set it free" this is how i feel when i smoke bud. it melts all my fears and worries, and keeps me sane...kind of like video games did when i was a kid. id never let that feeling go away if i could help it |
