Aw c'mon, this has happened to all of us sexually active males at least once.
I mean...not for me, but for most people...yeah. |

He seems to be certain that he cares, but that's just my opinion.
On Your Own, to me, is just a song about lonliness and longing. Richard seems to have been left down by all of those close to him, causing him to feel like he'll never find someone to fill the void, dooming him to eternal solitude. Or some shit like that.
But after listening to "Lucky Man", it appears things improved eventually. |

Wonderful fucking song.
The lyrics are a bit vague, but I like to think of them as a disapointed love song of sorts. It's about having a overwhelming, powerful, but doomed love. You had plans for a future with your love, only to end up watching them board an airplane to a whole new life, while you're left behind to drive back to the same old home.
But then again, it kind of sounds like being involved in an affair
"I was going to take you home
Show you things your lover wouldn't know"
"And I'm proud to be here
But when my lover cries I feel his tears"
so I could be really fucking off. |

| The Verve – Lucky Man Lyrics
|
"
But how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?
"
That's enough to explain the entire song, I believe. Looking for love in others will only leave you on your own in the end, (You come in on your own and you leave on your own) but if you're lucky, like our friend Richard Ashcroft, maybe one day you'll realize that "all the love [you] have is in your mind". A Lucky Man can find happiness and love in himself, since all others will leave his life some day and in some way. It's the kind of love that will never die. |

If your phone never rings, and you have no friends it's your own fault. Either you're fat, ugly, stupid, or just plain annoying. They are right about the whole nobody cares, thing, though.
Just remember: suicide is the answer to all of life's problems, kids. |

I'm a half year or so late with this response, but ELLESEVEN...if you're out there, I'd like to point out just how off you are. While this song may sound "lovely", Jim supposedly didn't feel that way. Wishful Sinful was wrote by Robby, and Jim wasn't too thrilled by the song, which was the case for the majority of Soft Parade. So what may sound like "tripping out" and "blurry" is actually just boredom. |

While it would make sense to interpret this song as being about an affair, and it probably is, I have my own meaning for it. I like to think of it as about a doomed love between two people. I have a little expereince in that department. There was a time that I was in a very loving relationship, we were perfect for each other, but this girl happened to be planning on moving across the country because she wasn't happy with parts of her life. So basically, why would she keep expressing her love and all that when we both know that we were going to be torn apart. If she really felt that way, how could she be able to accept the fact that she'd never see me again when she left? So yeah, why would you say hallelujah, if it meant nothing to ya. Fuck if I know. |

Shit. Yeah, this song has pretty much been interpretated the way it should be by some of you people. It's not about a specific scenerio, only a specific feeling. The complete satisfaction and overwhelming happiness that the silent companionship of a loved when can provide. For me, it would be taking my Sarah home late at night, after spending the whole day together. Ok, I'll shut up now. |

Liv was close. His lover left him, he tried to save things only to be ignored. Without her, his life was empty for awhile. Once he finally began to grow away from her, to move on and all that, she comes crawling back. I think it's safe to say that after someone puts you through something like that, your opinion of them changes dramatically. |

Wow, after being left by someone I thought I had a future with, that I thought I meant something to, this song has become so powerful to me. It fucks you up to realize that someone that is so important to you, isn't all that interested in you anymore. Everything they said to you when you were together that made you feel so good, seems to have really meant nothing. Goddamn. |

There isn't much to explain about this song's lyrics, it's just a love song, but a fucking dreamy and breathtaking one. If you're into Radiohead, the Flaming Lips, Wilco, or any of those type of bands, I'd recommend the Secret Machines, and especially this song to you. |

This song really has no meaning. I hate to go as far as whereisgod and say all that, because Simple Plan arent even worth talking about. They're nothing but a rip off of all those other awful pop bands that ripped off other ones. Simple Plan are a perfect example of everything thats wrong with music. |
