Drive You Home Lyrics

Your face so pale
Hasn't see the light for days
But on the hill
You had no place to say
"The skies are all mine
And I'm proud to be here
But when my lover cries I feel his tears"

I was gonna drive you home
I was going to tell you who I wanted

We came back to the same place
We didn't speak just danced in our minds
Oh, lover I know this ain't what it should be
But let me take you home
I'll show you what you should see

I was gonna drive you home
I was gonna tell you who I wanted
I was gonna drive you home

I'll never change for anyone
I know it's there but I just can't see it
I know it's there but I can't see it
A little light with you and me in it
I know it's there but I can't see it

I was thinking about the times I could have had
And whether they turn out good if they turn out bad
I was going to take you home
Show you things your lover wouldn't know

My angel, my lover, my angel
My mind lover, my mind lover
She's my mind lover

She's his mind lover, he wants her but cant tell her as she is with someone else. I was gonna tell you who I wanted.

Probably my favourite song on A Northern Soul. Amazing.

Wonderful fucking song.

The lyrics are a bit vague, but I like to think of them as a disapointed love song of sorts. It's about having a overwhelming, powerful, but doomed love. You had plans for a future with your love, only to end up watching them board an airplane to a whole new life, while you're left behind to drive back to the same old home.

But then again, it kind of sounds like being involved in an affair "I was going to take you home Show you things your lover wouldn't know" "And I'm proud to be here But when my lover cries I feel his tears"

so I could be really fucking off.

The song is about being in a love triangle. She is with him and another man and cannot decide but he knows what he wants. At the minimum he wanted to drive her home to let her know his feelings. song is based on his experience with wife Kate Radley and Jason Pierce of Spiritualized.

Really calming song and the slowest, least hazy song on A Northern Soul. This song to me is about driving someone home after a party who got drunk or high. It makes me think of a situation where you have to drive that person's car for him and drop him off back at their house really late at night. Check out the really neat guitar licks in the bridge, one of them has a great hook in it. Great song!
