Deep inside the silence staring out upon the sea
The waves are washing over half forgotten memory
Deep within the moment laughter floats upon the breeze
Rising and falling dying down within me
And I swear I never knew, I never knew how it could be
And all this time all I had inside was what I couldn't see
I swear I never knew, I never knew how could be
All the waves are washing over all that hurts inside of me
Beyond this beautiful horizon lies a dream for you and I
This tranquil scene is still unbroken by the rumors in the sky
But there's a storm closing in voices crying on the wind
The serenade is growing colder breaks my soul that tries to sing
And there's so many many thoughts when I try to go to sleep
But with you I start to feel a sort of temporary peace
There's a drift in and out
Drift in and out
Drift

To me this song seams to sum up the album with the [apparent] suicide of the main character.

He is surrendering himself to the sea, and all the lyrics really just sound like the final thoughts of a man who is about to die.

Whether he actually commits suicide is anyone's guess, but the hidden track seems to suggest that he doesn't go through with it.

Well most of Anathemas songs have a feeling of the loss of a loved one. This song is like he's beginning to feel at peace with the lost lover. In the verses it's basically saying there's a hurt inside of him but as the waves wash over the pain is disappearing (he's feeling better over time), "all the waves are washing over all that hurts inside of me". "Laughter floats upon the breeze", he can feel happiness coming back. The last part (the beautiful sounding bit) sounds asthough he's believing that there's a heaven("Rumor in the sky", "Beyond this beautiful horizon") and that's where he will be re-aquainted with his lover once again. There's so many thoughts when he goes to bed because that's where your mind runs wild. He thinks about when he's going to go to heaven and "starts to feel a sort of temporary peace". I could say alot more but I think that'll kick start your mind and get you on the right track. Listen to some of their older sad slow songs and then listen to this afterwards and you'll get the feeling i'm talking about.

This song reminds me of the album cover, like he's picked this day to leave behind this pathetic facade of a life and goes to the beach on a whim.

And as the world is going to shit all around him the beauty of this place is still intact and with this woman he's with (who I asume the female voice is supposed to be) he gets this fleeting feeling of comfort, which trancends every other pursuit he's abandoned.

To me this is not supposed to be sad.. The tale is about all the rough times (caused by alcoholism perhaps: Dumachum). But anyhow.. The beautiful horizon is the relief. The better times, like a sweet and tender girl?

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
