I guess it's about havind no one who understands you, which drives you insane, and losing your mind. So he has to take pills in order to stay 'normal'... My impression is that he's got psychotic, because of the words, agony, lost control, can't sleep, bravest mask... It doesn't sound totally like depression to my. But I don't know to be honest..
The intro reminds me of the intro of the song from "Requiem For A Dream"... Those four notes who got repeated, I wonder if they are really the same as in that song...

the intro to this song is cheesy, but the acoustic solo around 3 minutes into it is beautiful, like the rest of the song.

I agree with oswen, the intro is a bit...silly if I might say. It sounds completely emo. However, the rest of the song is just great...it's actually referring to any depressing situation, the kind of situation when you feel you've literally lost control of your life and the way its led.
No matter how happy I am, every single time I listen to this song I am like the sadest guy ever!
