I used to think
I had the answers to everything
But now I know
That life doesn't always
Go my way, yeah
Feels like I'm caught in the middle
That's when I realize

I'm not a girl
Not yet a woman
All I need is time
A moment that is mine
While I'm in between
I'm not a girl

There is no need to protect me
It's time that I
Learn to face up to this on my own
I've seen so much more than you know now
So don't tell me to shut my eyes

I'm not a girl
Not yet a woman
All I need is time
A moment that is mine
While I'm in between
I'm not a girl

But if you look at me closely
You will see it in my eyes
This girl will always find
Her way

(I'm not a girl)
I'm not a girl don't tell me what to believe
(Not yet a woman)
I'm just tryin' to find the woman in me, yeah
(All I need is time) oh, all I need is time
(A moment that is mine) that's mine
While I'm in between

I'm not a girl
Not yet a woman
All I need is time (is all I need)
A moment that is mine
While I'm in between

I'm not a girl
Oh
Not yet a woman

Guys, stop bashing her. She's been in the public's eye since she was probably ten or tweleve. She's never had a chance to live in the real world or just be a real person. She had so much fame that it killed her as a person. I feel really bad for her, actually. I think a lot of people just want to see her get back on her feet and prove she's still great. Okay so what if she didn't write her songs? She sang them, and she did, at one point, sing well. People are so evil on this website. Don't call me stupid or anything because I do know what real music is and I do appreciate it, but you guys are just so cruel!

this song wasn't too bad but i honestly do not llike britney. i'll admit that she can dance pretty good but that's where her "talents" end. if she's so great and wonderfull, why can't she sing live and not lip sing and why can't she write her own music.she's not even goodlooking on my opinion.the funny thing is is that her 11 year old sister can sing better than she can.all britney spears is is a skanky hoe.oh and iceangel1990 i don't know who you think you are but you need to back off you're making britney feel a little "overprotected";)

OMFG... making sns about how Britney sucks... get a life!!! How old are you... 5? That's what I thought Some of you people are fuckin pathetic. If you can't find anything better to do with your than to go posting around about how much you hate someone, you should seriously consider killing yourself. Maybe you should-- the world would be a much happier, nicer place without lazy selfish people who sit on their asses all day counting the number of disses they can dish out. I have absolutly no respect for someone like that. People like that don't deserve to be taking up oxygen, food or space. Do you know how many millions of positive things you could have been doing all the times you made pointless immature cruel posts just to piss people off? Go out and do something positive with your life, or end it right now, cause right now all your doing is wasting it. Go feed the homeless people... go to a hate management class... join the army... adopt an animal... donate to a charity... save the children... do something cause right now all your doing is promoting hate. And you would think that since Sept 11 people would start being a little nicer and spreading love not hate. I really feel for you people, cause I'm God isn't saving any of you a spot in heaven.

O.K I have somthing to say to you all.Even though you all have your little opinons doesn't mean this is the place to express them. This is to talk about the meaning of the song. Also it is so sad that you guys judge people on there how talented you think they are and how they dress. You guys (and girls) talk about how much there like puppets and how shallow they are when you people are juding them on what you think of there clothe and voices.I think thats pretty shallow.I would have to say I don't hate any artist (and yes that means I am calling Brittney spears an artist) for the reason that I don't personly know them.I have to say I don't like some of there music and I don't really like the way that they dress but do I dislike them myself.I would have to say no.So really all you shallow small minded people out there open up you eyes and see that they are people just like you.You may not belive me but they probably have been through the same stuff you have. They have problems outher then running out of pure spring water for there hair.Mabey if you opened you eyes you could see that and mabey the world will be a very very very tiny amout nicer.

O.k now as I said before this is not a site to discuss you opinons on the singer (though I am guilty of that already) so I will talk about the meaning. What I get from this is that shes going through a hard time in her life where she wants to break free but it scared to.

P.S I do like Brittney Spears.

P.P.S I have tickets to see her upcoming concert the day before my birthday.

P.P.P.S yes I posted this message again because I think its true

this song is absolutely beautiful. to really understand the meaning of the lyrics requires a second or third listen. "i'm not a girl, i'm not a girl, i'm not a girl..." britney really wants us to realize how much she wants to be recognized as a woman. "the girl will always find her way" sometimes she feels lost, but she knows if she stays a child at heart, she will find her way. its very important for us all to remain a child inside, but to be treated as an adult by those around us. very inspiring, i've started writing lyrics of my own, and i thank britney for the inspiration. here's a sample from a song i'm currently working on. i am really excited about it, and i hope you enjoy it.

"look at me" look at me what do you see are you finding out what it means to be me look at me if you see youre finding out what it all means youll be free

I think you guys should think twice before you place your opinion from a guys perspective. I know how britney feels. It's like being a half-breed: you're never fully accepted on either sides (womanhood and girlhood), at least for a time being. You're changing. You're fragile. And fuck you if you think it's dumb. This song is about growing up and finding out who you are as a young woman. It's sweet. I love it.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
