I think about life
And oh how it changes so fast
And oh how it's so hard to last here
Waiting for something to give

I think about time
A luxury so hard to find
And I just can't figure out why
I wasted it all here without you

But I'll be fine
Oh don't you worry
'Cause I'll be fine
See I'm in a hurry

To be gone away awhile
Tell me all the things that I
I'll be missing here in this old life
Man 'cause I just don't know

I think about you
And all of the times that we shared
And oh what a wonderful pair
We made it so far, here we go again

I think about love
And oh what a beautiful song
And oh how it needs to be sung here
Sing it so loud all the world can hear

I think I'll be gone away awhile
Tell me all the things that I
I'll be missing here in this old life
Man ?cause I just don't know

I think I'll be gone away awhile
Tell me all the things that I
I'll be missing here in this old life
Man, 'cause I just don't know
No, no, I just don't know
And I just don't know

But I'll be fine
Oh don't you worry 'cause I'll be fine
See I'm in no hurry

No, I'll be fine
Oh don't you worry
'Cause I'll be fine
See I'm in a hurry

To be gone away awhile
Tell me all the things that I
I'll be missing here in this old life
Man 'cause I just don't know, no, no

I think I'll be gone away a while
Tell me all the things that I
I'll be missing here in this old life
Man, 'cause I just don't know
No, no, I just don't know

Gone away awhile
Tell me all the things that I
I'll be missing here in this old life
Man 'cause I just don't know

Gahhhh. Amazing lyrics, killer vocals, just overall perfect.♥ I think the meaning of this song can be different to each listener. Whether you are stressed over [things in] life and just want to get away, or you are having relationship issues [maybe family relationships or friend relationships, not always just love]. It's asking for reassurance, asking for a reason to not give up, when maybe you do want to. It's asking for someone to ask you not to go, cause you don't want to go, yet you feel you have to. The best songs are ones that any person can relate to. Songs like this one.

This song is right up there with "23" by Jimmy Eat World for my favorite song of all-time. To put it simply, this song is so incredibly beautiful. The lyrics are absolutely incredible and speak right to me. One of the best things about music is that it can be interpreted by each person differently. However, this song is clearly about someone wanting to escape from not only the life they live, but from the person they loved. Loneliness is such a natural human emotion and even though we may be surrounded by friends and family, we can often feel more alone than ever. I can particularly relate to this because my girlfriend of over four years broke up with me a few months ago and I felt more alone than I've felt in my entire life after it happened. I'm sure everyone, at some point in their lives, has had the feeling that they just need to escape and start over. Just like beautifulxgoodbye said before me, this song is an escape for me. As far as the meaning of this song goes, he doesn't like the way his life is turning out and needs to get away from it and reset everything. He's asking someone, a friend maybe, to tell him, "all the things that I, I'll be missing here in this old life man cause I just don't know." He sees no reason not to leave the life he is living because he doesn't know of anything that he will miss. This song is, by far, my favorite from Safetysuit. This band is amazing and I hope they start getting the love they deserve. Kind of a long comment here but I felt this amazing song deserved it.

I love this song... whenever I listen to it I feel safe. It's my escape from the rest of the world, when I feel overwhelmed from all the stress of my day. It takes me away for 5 minutes and 36 seconds. I wish there were more songs completely honest and breathtaking as this one. Although Safetysuit does all that and more.

such a fucking beautiful song. definitely made so pretty much anyone can hear what they want out of it, like how irishman hears it as a break up song, and beautifulgoodbye uses it as an escape. for me, it makes me think of all the things i took for granted with this guy, and now we can't see each other.

"i think about time, a luxury so hard to find and i just can't figure out why i wasted it all here without you"

to me, it's running away with someone who means everything, someone who you're happy with. just getting away from this "old life" and all the problems we have, and just being together where none of it matters.

i can't stop listening to it.

    My Interpretation

I hear this one similarly a lot of people, but to me it's someone who's about to pass on, so is going away from the world in a literal sense. Of course, that reading requires a belief in reincarnation, but that's how I hear it.

i think this song is about how you feel after you and someone you love end things. whether you or the other person ended things. you know that you don't belong together but you still miss that person. when you think about it all you can get so wrapped up in missing that person that you just don't want to do it anymore. you don't want to think of them and you want to escape from everything because thinking of it all makes you miss the way things were when you were with that person.

i don't even know if that made sense to anyone else but it does to me.

    Such. A beautiful. Song.

I agree. It's like, going away even though you don't want to. It hurts, but it has to happen. Detachment. Getting out of this life after being sucked in too much.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
