What if it makes you sad at me?
And what if it makes you laugh now
But you cry as you fall asleep?
And what if it takes your breath
And you can hardly breathe?
And what if it makes the last sound
Be the very best sound?

What if what I want makes you sad at me?
And is it all my fault or can I fix it, please?
?Cause you know that I'm always all for you
?Cause you know that I'm always all for you

And what if it makes you lose faith in me?
And what if makes you question
Every moment you cannot see?
And what if it makes you crash
And you can't find the key?
And what if it makes you ask
How you could let it all go?

What if what I want makes you sad at me?
And is it all my fault or can I fix it, please?
?Cause you know that I'm always all for you
?Cause you know that I'm always all for
Always all for you

And if this be our last conversation
If this be the last time that we speak for awhile
Don't lose hope and don't let go
?Cause you should know

If it makes you sad, if it makes you sad at me
Then it?s all my fault and let me fix it please
?Cause you know that I'm always all for you
?Cause you know that I'm always all for you

What if what I want makes you sad at me?
And if it?s all my fault then let me fix it, please
?Cause you know that I'm always all for you
?Cause you know that I'm always all for
I'm always, I'm all for you

I don't think this is necessarily about cheating and this might be wrong, but this might not be a romantic song. I think it's a coming clean song about something you're ashamed of and you're worried the person won't be able to handle it. 'Always all for you' could be romantic, but a really good friend or a family member could qualify.

    My Interpretation

This is what the song means to me because it's something I'm currently going through, I could see how it is about cheating though also. This is just how I feel the song affects me:

What if it makes you sad at me? < What if how much I love you makes you upset? And what if it makes you laugh now but you cry as you fall asleep? < This is basically talking about how I like this person, but they laugh about it now, but develop feelings later and they start feeling ignored. And what if it takes your breath > How much I really do And you can't hardly breathe? And what if it makes the last sound be the very best sound? > Possibly saying goodbye to this person

What if what I want makes you sad at me? > I want more than just a friendship with you. And is it all my fault or can I fix it please? > Is it my fault for falling for you? I just want to fix your heart from the pain you've been in lately. Cause you know that I’m always all for you > I'm always ready for your move. Cause you know that I’m always all for you

What if it makes you lose faith in me? > What if you walk away? What if makes you question every moment you cannot see? > Everywhere I go, I always think of you, I always talk about you, you just don't see it at all. And what if it makes you crash > What if I weigh you down so much that you can't get up again? And you can’t find the key? > You can't find a way to get out. What if it makes you ask how you could let it all go? > How could you pretend my feelings for you never existed?

And if this be our last conversation < Time to say goodbye If this be the last time that we speak for awhile < I wonder how long this silence between us is going to be. Don’t lose hope and don’t let go < Don't give up on me, please don't let me go.. Cause you should know < Wake up and realize who's right in front of you and who has been all this time.

If it makes you sad If it makes you sad at me Then it’s all my fault and let me fix it please < Maybe it is my fault for believing you liked me back. Let's just be friends. Cause you know that I’m always all for you Cause you know that I’m always all for you

What if what I want makes you sad at me? And if its all my fault then let me fix it please Cause you know that I’m always all for you Cause you know that I’m always all for you

I am all for you < Everything I do, I do it for you.

    My Opinion

A lot of people are saying it's about cheating but that's not the only way it can interpreted. When the artist doesn't give a specific meaning, there are a lot of ways to interpret a song; however, I'm definitely not unbiased in my opinion because I'm relating the song to relationships I've been in.

I believe this song is about how his wants/needs/DESIRES are a tremendous STRAIN on her. Men are really needy when it comes to sex. Sometimes the amount of stress and pressure a man will put on a woman when he wants it is really just too much to handle, especially since men tend to want it all the time.

    • What if it makes you sad at me? (What if my needs or the things I ask of you make you feel sad?)
    • And what if it makes you laugh now but you cry as you fall asleep? (What if when I when I tell you want I want now, you'll try to laugh it off like it's fine and just do what everything I want, but when you're alone at night, you'll think about what I had you do and you'll cry?)
    • And what if it takes your breath And you can hardly breathe? (I could really read into this when it comes to bjs but I'll spare people that. What if the idea that I'd ask so much of you makes you feel like you can't breathe?)
    • And what if it makes the last sound be the very best sound? (What if all the things we do end giving you a great climax? [Are you going to be sad even if that moment of pleasure makes you happy?])
    • And is it all my fault or can I fix it, please? (Is it all my fault that I want so much of you and am pressuring you to do it like this? If it's not completely my fault then can I fix you and me?)
    • Cause you know that I'm always all for you (You know that I only want to make you happy and be happy with you [but I still wanna have sex with you so bad].)
    • And what if it makes you lose faith in me? (What if you start to believe that I'm really not a good person and that we were never meant for each other?)
    • And what if makes you question every moment you cannot see? (What if it makes you question if we really have a future together? / What if it makes you question whether I'm going to do something you don't want me to at an second?)
    • And what if it makes you crash and you can't find the key? (What if all this thinking makes you crash into an unbreakable wall but the car is still going [as if it plans to try to get through even if it crushes you] and you can't even find this keys [the things that started it all] to pull out of the ignition to save yourself/escape?)
    • And what if it makes you ask How you could let it all go? (What if it makes you ask me "Why is sex more important to you than me? Will you just let me go? [Because I'm going to leave if you don't prove that you're not more interested in me than sex]?)
    • And is it all my fault or can I fix it, please Cause you know that I'm always all for you (You have to know that I'm completely in love with you and would do anything for you, so if you don't completely blame me and hate me now, please let me fix everything.)
    • And if this be our last conversation, if this be the last time that we speak for awhile, don't lose hope and don't let go (If we break up/if I have to go somewhere and will be too busy to contact you, then still don't give up on us. Don't let go of what we have. [Even if we need time off, we can still fix this.])
    • And if it's all my fault then let me fix it, please (This is the second-ish to last line, meaning that maybe it really is all his fault and if it is, he want so much to fix it.)
    • Cause you know that I'm always all for you (It ends with this line, meaning that she really is the most important thing to him, despite all the things he wants.)

This song is so emotional. I love it. I want to know what he means by it, because its just got so much feeling behind it in his voice. I think it could mean any number of things...one of which is that maybe he wanted to pursue his career and work on a long distance relationship with the person in the song. Wanting to hold on to what you know is good and right, trying to make it work, when at the end of the day, he doesnt want to hurt her, and she doesnt want to be hurt, but feeings are still under it all. I dont know, thats what i think.

He's trying to tell her that he's gonna do something that probably will make her sad but that she doesn't have to worry because he'll try to fix it. He's reminding her that he'll be always there for her.

    Great Song.

To me, it sounds like he's debating telling a girlfriend about cheating. It's already happened, but trying to reason out whether he should tell. Don't know where the "makes you laugh now" part would come in, but who knows...

I think this is definitely about life changes and how they affect relationships.
I don't think he is happy where he is in life and it doesn't have to do with the girl he is singing to because he loves her very much, but he knows making the changes he needs to make for himself will "make her sad" (as in he might move away or need a break from being tied down). He doesn't want to hurt her but he has to do what he has to do. I agree it could be a move, career change, etc. Beautiful song, and I agree-VERY emotional. Anyone who has been on either side of this type of situation couldagree with the bittersweet difficulty... My favorite line is "what if it makes u laugh now but cry as u fall asleep" because I think we've all had moments like those. I <3 Safetysuit

Maybe he just has skeletons in his closet. Who doesn't? Maybe he wants to tell her something in his past that he knows might make her upset. I think it can have any number of meanings but something that hit me is the line "What if it makes you lose faith in me, and what if it makes you question every moment you cannot see?" I feel like it's easy to wonder the way someone close to you will act when they aren't around you, whether you let it affect you or not. The only part I don't understand is the part after that where he says "What if it makes you crash and you can't find the key?" Does anyone know what he means by that? But yeah I definitely agree. He has so much power and emotion in his voice in this song; it makes it twice as good. Probably my favorite song on the album because of that.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
