Tonight I'm letting go
Of all the old excuses
The fears I built so close
Cause inside I've always known
That no one else could ever do
Or ever feel like home

There's so many things I'll never know
But this I know for sure

You're the one
I need you more than ever
It's taken too long
Taken to long to say

My life began
The night we spent together
Now I cannot live
I'd die any other way

I'm not afraid

You're the one

It's hasn't always been
The best of times
But if you'd ask
I'd do it all again

(are you ready to begin)

I'm ready to begin
A brand new chapter of our lives
Just tell me where and when

(a brand new chapter in our lives)

Cause there's so many things I'll never know
But this I know for sure

You're the one
I need you more than ever
It's taken too long
Taken too long to say

My life began
The night we spent together
Now I can not live
I'd die any other way
I'm not afraid

You're the one

(instrumental)

You're the one
Who understands
Who makes me better than I am
I do it all because of you
When all we had
Had come undone
You stood and fought
And didn't run
You're the one who
Pulled us through

You're the one
I feel it more than ever
It's taken too long
Taken too long to say

Our lives began
The night we spent together
Now I can not live
I'd die any other way

I'm not afraid
You're the one

I love this song, and it is my favorite song on the album. This song reminds of how I wanted to be with my current girlfriend and how I chased her for 8 months. Then one night we stayed together and from then on our love has grown each and every day but then she moved back home and I didn't know how it was going to work and she fought and pulled me through some bad times and now she is my fiance' and I love her so much.

It's not a coincidence that this song came into my life now. It's rather hard when you know you are with the one and she begins thinking otherwise. Love is the most powerful bond and for it to be broken is devastating.

The first line he says he's letting go of all the excuses he's made to not be with her or to avoid doing something, because he was afraid to really open up and be himself. Basically he's saying he'd do anything for her. He then continues to profess how much he loves and needs her.

An absolutely amazing song. I hope the rest of the album is this powerful.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
