Story of my life, searching for the right
But it keeps avoiding me
Sorrow in my soul 'cause it seems that wrong
Really loves my company
He's more than a man and this is more than love
The reason that the sky is blue
The clouds are rolling in because I'm gone again
And to him, I just can't be true

And I know that he knows I'm unfaithful
And it kills him inside
To know that I am happy with some other guy
I can see him dying

I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
Every time I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
I don't wanna be a murderer

I feel it in the air as I'm doin' my hair
Preparing for another date
A kiss upon my cheek as he reluctantly
Asks if I'm gonna be out late
I say I won't be long, just hanging with the girls
A lie I didn't have to tell
Because we both know where I'm about to go
And we know it very well

'Cause I know that he knows I'm unfaithful
And it kills him inside
To know that I am happy with some other guy
I can see him dying

I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
Every time I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
I don't wanna be a murderer

Our love, his trust
I might as well take a gun and put it to his head
Get it over with
I don't wanna do this anymore
Whoa, anymore

And I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
And every time I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
And I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
I don't wanna be a murderer

A murderer
No, no, no
Yeah, yeah

This is the girl saying that she is finally beginning to feel bad for cheating on her man, and that she may put him out of his misery and tell him to his face, or just leave because he already knows.

regardless if she's a bitch or not...the song is the cold-hearted truth. there are so many relationships out there that are just like this, and half the time, the one who is cheating doesn't give a damn about the one they're cheating on. this kind of shines the light on the other side.

Reggae star Rihanna sings, “He knows I'm unfaithful, and it kills him inside”.

“I don’t wanna do this any more”, she continues, “But I just can’t be true”.

Around the net, reviews and comments on her song say something like “What a bitch!” and “He should dump that hoe!” But Rihanna’s song exposes something about the darker side of human nature that we’d rather not admit exists in us… That we continue to do wrong, even when we know it’s wrong.

Like Rihanna, we regret what we’re doing. But as the old proverb goes, “A dog returns to eat his vomit”. Something deep within us compels us to do stuff that makes us sick.

Yet, we go on pretending we’re not fallen creatures. Because to admit that, would be to acknowledge our need for God’s mercy. And we would rather believe He doesn’t exist.

This girl has some amazing talent and a beautiful voice but...

This song makes me sad, as a guy. It is possible for a guy to love a girl to where he doesn't want to live without her. And that's obviously the point this guy is at, and the feeling of having someone, the person you love more than life itself, cheat on you is horrible, but you want to try to forget it and hope that she'll stop. I think the girl in this song is a disgusting bitch.

    Though it's a beautiful song.

i agree with whoever said that some guys are in love so much they cant live with that person. i think its the case in this song. he loves her and knows wuts goin on but cant live without. she sees him being hurt everyday and its killin him. thats the murderer line. shes probably attachted to him in some way. thats y she cant leave him.

She is acknowledginh the fact that her dishonesty and promiscuity is killing the man that she knows. I don't believe that the death she refers to is anything other than figurative, but it is still real. If the man is forever changed, forever embittered due to her head trips and careless actions then the beautiful person, the one she fell in love with is, in a sense, dead.

    excellent song...

    this song is great! but...

why is the murderer line such a big deal? it fits in with the WHOLE song! he knows she's cheating on him, and she knows that it's killing him, "KILLING" as in killing him inside, he's hurt sooo much but neither of them don't want to let go of each other because they've grown so attached to each other

i have to say, i really love this song

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
