I miss you, miss you

Hello there
The angel from my nightmare
The shadow in the background of the morgue
The unsuspecting victim
Of darkness in the valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if we want
Where you can always find me
And we'll have Halloween on Christmas
And in the night we'll wish this never ends
We'll wish this never ends

I miss you, I miss you
I miss you I miss you

Where are you?
And I'm so sorry
I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight
I need somebody and always
This sick strange darkness
Comes creeping on so haunting every time
And as I stared I counted
The webs from all the spiders
Catching things and eating their insides
Like indecision to call you
And hear your voice of treason
Will you come home and stop the pain tonight
Stop this pain tonight

Don't waste your time on me
You're already the voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you)
Don't waste your time on me
You're already the voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you)

Don't waste your time on me
You're already the voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you)
Don't waste your time on me
You're already the voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you)
Don't waste your time on me
You're already the voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you)
Don't waste your time on me
You're already the voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you)

I miss you, I miss you
I miss you, I miss you
I miss you, I miss you
I miss you, I miss you

    Song Meaning

Line by line here we go bubs

Hello there, the angel from my nightmare- Obviously the person that he refers to is held in a very high esteem thus the angel of the nightmare he is going through. At this point we have yet to find out what it is. However the hello there tells you he is calling out

The shadow in the background of the morgue- Now we now that this is about death. The shadow is that movement that you see out of the corner of your eye that when you focus on it is gone.

The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley- This line makes reference to two things. 1 The individual died as a victim (murder?) unexpectedly 2. darkness in the valley refer to the passage from the bible walking through the valley of the shadow of dead. So the person that passed died unexpectedly and is unexpectedly going through the valley of the shadow of dead.

We can live like Jack and Sally if we want- This is from the nightmare before christmas Jack Skellington and Sally his love. The living is willing to live in the world of the dead just to be next to the person that passed and he loves so much.

Where you can alway find me. We'll have halloween on Christmas- Again alluding to nightmare before christmas and the world of the dead. The living is willing to turn his Christmas into an occassion of death as long as he is next to the person he loves even if it is in the form of a ghost.

And in the night we'll wish this never ends- very literal as he share his live with this dead entity due to the love they feel for each other they will want it to never end.

Where are you and I'm so sorry I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight- He is trying to look for her, the ghost, where are you, he cant find her, he can't find her ghost. He can't sleep thus he can't dream and have the dreams/nightmare in which she comes to visit him. He apologizes because he can't bring her back to him due to the insomnia.

I need somebody and always This sick strange darkness Comes creeping on so haunting every time- He is calling out to the ghost expressing his loneliness and at the same time the fear or heavyness he feels as her presence begins to be felt by him, thus the strange darkness that creeps in and is haunting, because again it is a connection of the dead and living

And as I stared I counted Webs from all the spiders Catching things and eating their insides- This line illustrates the morbity of the situation. He is afraid and is feeling doubt not about his love but about the hauntings

Like indecision to call you and hear your voice of treason- Here he is hesitant to call out the ghost just like when you feel someone is standing behind you and you don't want to turn around. He is hesitant to call her and hear her voice. The voice of treason I think is open to interpretation. He could mean a religious treason where there is no afterlife or where the dead don't go to heaven, but hang out las ghosts. Or the one I like most is that he feels betrayed because of ther death. She betrayed him by dying and now again by not showing up to haunt him at night or in his dreams.

Will you come home and stop this pain tonight- She hasn't come to haunt him and thus he begs her to come home and stop his pain with her presence albeit a ghost to Stop this pain tonight

Don't waste your time on me you're already The voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you) Don't waste your time on me you're already The voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you)- He has resign to not seeing her, feeling her, being haunted by her and he, because of how much he loves her, releases her. Don't waste your time on me- meaning coming back from where ever she is to haunt him and be with hime. Presumably coming down from heaven to be a ghost on earth just to be with him. HE RELEASES HER SO SHE CAN BE HAPPY and tells here you are already in my head... you already live in me, maybe as his conciousness, she will forever be with him. She can now go to heaven.

The best song ever written about losing a loved partner. Gets me everytime. I mean who would not want at first be with the person you love no matter what, ghost, dreams haunting etc. but then you must realize that they have to go to that next stage and that they will never truly leave you because the will live in you forever.

    damit ya'll made me cry.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
