Now you have been staring at the sun for a while
Is it hurting your eyes
I know you want to put those shades on
And walk on home with a tan
To arrive and leave with style

But didn't a warm wind blow right through you
Melting the ice
I know you want to put those shades on
And walk on home as planned
But stand still for a while

You can hide it
You can fight it
But blood red color won't fade in time
You can hide it
You can fight it
Those red stains of love will remind your heart now

I'm having a hard time understanding your needs
When I look into your eyes
I see you want me to put up or shut up
What if I did
Could you leave without that style

You keep biting the hands that feeds
When I look into your eyes
I see you want to eat up, but still throw up
Would your heart forbid
But stand still for a while

You can hide it
You can fight it
But blood red color won't fade in time
You can hide it
You can fight it
Those red stains of love will remind your heart now

This condition won't go away
From here on you have a choice

It is about someone who believes in God but hasnt acted on that belief. The 'sun' represents God, the person likes being 'warmed' by the sun, but only wants a tan...like saying they like God as long as He doesnt get in the way of their lives. A bit like how people thank God for awards, but then the rest of the time live against God's morals.

But he is saying that His sacrifice will never fade, even if you ignore it. It's still there, it still happened.

sounds to me like the chorus is saying you can hide it or fight it but Jesus's sacrafice wont just fade in time.

Ok, now the two religious guys could be right, but I am not sure if this band is extremely religious or anything. What Label are they signed to? Anyway listening to the song and analyzing the lyrics, I may take it down a notch, but keep a similiar interpretation.

I think this song applies to politicians with voters, Teenagers with parents, Church goers with Jesus, and almost any type of relationship like that. It is about how we always want the good part of a relationship, "get a tan and put shades after staring at the sun" also "You keep biting the hand that feeds you" also "I am having a hard time understanding your needs" Etc...

So basically you can hide the fact that you only want the good parts and pretend or you can also fight it, but in the end the blood of "hurting" somebody will always catch up to you and you'll remember that relationships don't work that way. I really think this song can apply to any relationship and is meant to apply to all forms!

well this band is extremly religous. they where originally on solid state records which was an all christian band record label, they tour with other christian bands, they say their a christian band on stage, and their lyrics are obviously christian oriented. and if you pay attention to this song you can tell this is about the sacrafice of jesus. Its plain to see.

The song is really up to interpretation, but you have to give evidence to support your claim, drkshadow. the blood thing you described as when you hurt somebody it catches up to you. but what about the line "those red stains of love will remind your heart now"? I'm not saying you're wrong, but support your claim. to me, this song is definitely without a doubt about the blood that Jesus had to shed, and the choice that every single person has to make.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
