Christians and Lions – Bones Lyrics
|
this is my favorite song on the album... simply amazing...
I like the fact that this band is actually lyrically stronger than most bands of the same genre, like Bright Eyes or Death Cab, and musically more beautiful.
It's hard to say, for me, what this song about, but lines that jump out at me are:
And what's the use of a good, strong noose
when your problem's too much hanging around?
~pretty basic, why think about killing yourself, if you are only thinking that because you aren't doing anything.
'Cause if home's where hearts is
beating like a bird's wing,
then I've many homes
~he gives his heart to many people & places, and that's why he is able to be happy.
Wisdom: it comes
but age don't unlock it.
You've got to spend all the passion you've found.
With more change in their heads
than in all of their pockets,
~people with potential just need to exert their strengths in order to learn, instead of waiting to get old. |

Yet another song by Cursive that describes Kasher's feelings about how he felt his marriage was. Post-Domestica Cursive is always very personal. |

Arcade Fire – Intervention Lyrics
|
Oh yeah and an Intervention is something where you force someone to face their problems.
Also to say Arcade Fire isn't political... that is just dumb and I question anyone who thinks that Arcade Fire isn't trying to change the world.
And I like Neon Bible better than Funeral it is the perfect follow up album. |

Arcade Fire – Intervention Lyrics
|
I feel like the song is about religion, seriously every song on Neon Bible is about religion, not in the sense that Arcade Fire is being religious but in the sense that while religion is good and all it doesn't solve problems. The parts about the soldier growning and then going alone has to do with the fact that people pray for the soldiers but it doesn't help them physically and instead end up having to do it themselves. "Working for the church while your family dies" isn't saying that Bush is evil and is ignoring his country it is saying people turn to God when they have problems, but their is no answer because God isn't there to solve the problems of single people, but instead people have to help themselves, but they don't. And just because he has something written on his guitar, doesn't mean the song is about that saying, Woody Guthrie had "this machine destroys facists" written on his guitar, but not every song was about the evil of facism. |

Superchunk – Seed Toss Lyrics

I feel this song is about being immature/awesome and running around doing what he wants avoiding responsibility, but this girl is trying to change him. Very pop-punk idealogically, but on a more awesome level. I especially like where he says:
"You better stay in my good graces"
That is awesome. |

I don't know if this is right, but i feel this song is about a man who has died and he is watching his love go through her time of grief and not be able to comfort her. |

Murder City Devils – Rum to Whiskey Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
It seems to me that everyone is placing the blame on the girl in the relationship, but I personally feel that the blame is on the guy in this and it actually sounds to me a lot different then the above explanations. I agree that rum to whiskey is saying from an innocent drink to a hard drink, but I wonder what drove the man to this, is it possibly suspicion? When I think "bang, bang" I immediately think of things that make a bang, for example guns. Thefore "Bang, Bang, He put her down" is saying he killed her. That means this song is about a man who makes a mistake and destroys the only decent thing in his life and then moves on to another girl and destroys her. Maybe not killing the girl, but possibly breaking her or doing something else, feeling remorse for what he has done and being sad, but then doing it again. |

Blind Guardian – The Curse Of Fëanor Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
p.s. go Blind Guardian and it's not power metal it's opera metal... DragonForce is power metal and Blind Guardian is nothing like DragonForce! Opera Metal involves long story like lyrics heavy guitar and a serious attitude about music. Unlike power metal which is mainly great vocals, silly lyrics and a huge emphasis on guitar. |

Monster Magnet – Silver Future Lyrics
|
Personally this song makes me think of a psycho. "Hey little cookie walk my way" is the psycho looking at his victim, Silver Future represents what he is going to do and how he is describing it as being something glorius and beautiful. The rest is the insane logic of someone who is contemplating murder. |

The Band – The Weight Lyrics

The Band actually used to be called Levon and the Hawks and before that they were Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks. If you wanna get the best in The Band's material you should get "A Musical History: Box Set" . It is an amazing compilation of this bands music, it has all their hits as well as songs from The Last Waltz and most importantly an extremely awesome live version of Bob Dylan's Rainy Day Women 12 & 35, where The Band plays back up. Also get the Basement Tapes... I love this band... they is one of me favs. |

Cursive – Shallow Means, Deep Ends Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
This song is a mirror in that it is about a man drowning in all literalness, but it also about how the guy is drowning in his own life, "We finally hit bottom" shows the drowning guy hitting the bottom of the lake and the guy feeling he has hit the bottom of his life. Very emo, but cool all the same. Cursive kicks alot of ass for an emo band, which is saying something since pop emo bands are boring. |

Wolf Parade – It's a Curse Lyrics

This is easily the best fucking Wolf Parade song ever... this and We Built Another World. Though I like to agree with the idea of a zombie attack and the whole idea that it is about how apathetic and dead society is, thus the title "It's A Curse".
So that's how it is! |

Emo is influenced by Fugazi, but so are many indie and punk bands, however Fugazi ranges from alternative to hardcore punk. |
