Mothership, Mothership, Do You Read Me? Lyrics
Your navel is yearning for an extension
A ghost limb, it can't detach from mother's loving grasp
You're starving, it's burning for the nutrient it can't have
We're all cut off alone and lost
Calling out to homebase, do you read me?
(Emergency: we're floating endlessly)
Transmission terminated
You've been created, severed from life and limb
Stranded an infant on the front step of the universe
Infinitely searching for a warmth
Once loved, now lost forever
Mothership, mothership, do you read me?
Mothership, mothership, do you read me?
Mothership, mothership, do you read me?
Does anyone hear my siren song?
Maybe I'll be rescued before too long
Calling out to homebase one last time
(The signal faded out, the ship is gone)
Still starving for the reason
You were created, then severed from life and limb
Stranded an infant on the front step of the universe
Infinitely searching for a warmth
Once loved, now lost forever
A ghost limb, it can't detach from mother's loving grasp
You're starving, it's burning for the nutrient it can't have
We're all cut off alone and lost
(Emergency: we're floating endlessly)
Transmission terminated
Stranded an infant on the front step of the universe
Infinitely searching for a warmth
Once loved, now lost forever
Mothership, mothership, do you read me?
Mothership, mothership, do you read me?
Maybe I'll be rescued before too long
(The signal faded out, the ship is gone)
Still starving for the reason
Stranded an infant on the front step of the universe
Infinitely searching for a warmth
Once loved, now lost forever

When I first heard this song, I didn't pay much attention to it, because I didn't really like the beat but I sat down and listend and by the end I was in love with it. the part "calling out to homebase, do you read me? (emergency: were floating endlessly) transmission terminated "
that is my life in anutshell, you try and try and you just get screwed in the end. I love cursive, the music is amazing!
Arguably the best Cursive song.
ohh for sure i love this song.. i love it!
this song reminds me of something Coheed and Cambria would write. Great song though, I'd say one of Cursive's best maybe.. but then again i can't say there's a cursive song i don't love.
How dare you compare Cursive to Coheed and Cambria?
cursive is infinately better than coheed
uh,yea
Umm. I think the_ashlee was referring to the semi-scifi-ish content, the mothership, the first step of the universe, etcetera.
However, in this case, they're metaphors for being in the womb, birth, and that feeling of detatchment.
