I think this song is about much more than just unrequited love. The frequent transitions into the minor mode and the lyric "don't you shiver?" add a vindictive or otherwise bitter quality to the song. It is anything but sweet and touching. This song is saying "Look at all the affection I'm pouring out. Don't you see what you're missing? Doesn't your neglect of me make you feel guilty? It should. It should make you shiver."
I wonder... is the author really making a question? I think he might be saying don't shiver, don't be afraid, cause i'll be there for you, i'll take care of you. what d'you think?

I agree with npchong. Not necessarily on it being a question etc.

On the face of it it's a really pretty song but deliberately tries, as is the trend, to bring negative or sinister connatations with words, to titillate. Not that there's anything bad about subverting a sweet sentiment but, in this case the singer HERE's clearly relying on the "just because I'm a man, I can use that make myself out to be a successful threat in some way" sort of trope. And in a way I wish bands didn't rely on sexist baggage to try and bring "edge"...

@npchong Absolutely agree... not all pretty music means all sunshine and flowers for it's lyrical content, even with coldplay.
