just reading it , i thougth it had to do with a love triangle...
theres this one superficial girl who's just stringing the guy along ("She's his yellow brick road Leading him on And letting him go as far as she lets him go Going down to nowhere"). meanwhile. i think theres a 2nd girl who's still in love with this guy... they went out but they broke up for whatever reason and then she realizes that shes still head over heels for this guy. Maybe they were best friends and this girl whos in love with him knows that he's going after the wrong girl.
so the "dont leave me now" could be like 'don't leave me behind for this new girl" ya know?
either way. michelle branch said she writes love songs because everyone can relate to them, and everyone that's posting here may have a different idea of the song, but the point is you're relating somehow, and that's the important thing.
