i see the man as being blind ("how can he see anything at all since he's got no eyes to see")... and i think it's symbolizing the fact that if you couldn't physically see than you would see so much more out of life or maybe if you would just close your eyes sometimes.. and in the end.. he closed his eyes.. and that's when he began to see ... to see the true beauty of something sometimes it takes more than just physically looking at it...
