I think he’s saying “do re me” pointing to the fact that everything he’s done in his life with his music has been self centered in one way or another partially because he’s been forced to play into the mythology to sell records and partially because that’s true for anyone making art. It’s kind of unabashed. Like hey I feel like shit about myself and my life and I’m not sure if I’m gonna make it. What about me? Like self soothing. Probably feeling guilty for what his addiction has done to those around him so it’s kind of sardonic as well but also genuine. This is obviously a biased take but I just think this song is very contextual and personal
