I thought the whole "Right Away, Great Captain" was a trilogy released by Andy depicting the life of a 17th century sailor. So wouldn't "Captain" have a literal meaning and not a metaphorical one like his conscious? "Captain" would play into the storyline of the 17th century sailor, though, I'm not positive on this. Either way this song grabbed my attention and trying to figure put its meaning has been a nice ride.
