I read somewhere in a book about Witchcraft connected to Gerald Kelly,that the song was about Aleister Crowley in part at his Abbey of Thelma in Cicily.
Am not 100% sure which book I think it may have been a Geralk Kelly biography.Anyway Kelly knew Crowley from Cambridge.
When Crowley went to Cicily he was perportted to be doing sex magick with a 'K' with others.Whildt drawing and painting weird,dark murals on the walls of nightmare scenes,the idea being that you could overcome your fears by looking at pictures of them.
Hence the lyrics
"We slept all night in the Virgin's bed and dreamed of death and breathed like sick dogs" and so on.
The original LP copy of The Top where this song is the opening track originally featured a nasty demonic looking six pointed star as well as other symbols.
Robert virtually produced a lot of this album on his own playing bass parts etc.using session drummers like he had with Vince Ely on some of the Japanese Whispers songs.
Eventually Porl Thompson Andy Anderson and Phillip Thorn alley joined but he was still not talking to Simon Gallup,after they're bust up during the "Pornography" Tour.
I hope one day to find this book again and update this.
