It's worth noting when this song was released - the fall of 1983, a very, very tense and worrisome time worldwide (we now know that World War III almost started by accident). It's no accident, I think, that the lyrics call for the titular holiday to take place "all across the world, in every nation" and plead "You can turn the world around/Just bring back all those happy days" and "Let love shine/And we will find/A way to come together, we can make things better". Not to mention that it's a terrific dance track.
