"Holiday" as written by and Lisa Stevens Curtis Hudson....
Holiday
Celebrate
Holiday
Celebrate

If we took a holiday
Took some time to celebrate
Just one day out of life
It would be, it would be so nice

Everybody spread the word
We're gonna have a celebration
All across the world
In every nation
It's time for the good times
Forget about the bad times, oh yeah
One day to come together to release the pressure
We need a holiday

If we took a holiday
Took some time to celebrate (come on, let's celebrate)
Just one day out of life (holiday)
It would be, it would be so nice

You can turn this world around
And bring back all of those happy days
Put your troubles down
It's time to celebrate
Let love shine
And we will find
A way to come together, we can make things better
We need a holiday

If we took a holiday (holiday)
Took some time to celebrate (celebrate)
Just one day out of life (just one day)
It would be, it would be so nice

Holiday
Celebrate
Holiday
Celebrate

If we took a holiday (oh yeah, oh yeah)
Took some time to celebrate (come on, let's celebrate)
Just one day out of life (holiday)
It would be, it would be so nice

Holiday (ooh yeah, ooh yeah)
Celebrate (come on, let's celebrate)
Holiday (just one day out of life)
Celebrate

My InterpretationIn life as in Art and Rock-For Madonna, Holiday does not mean vacation! Madonna does not do that! The song means let's make our lives better in the names of love and peace! In live staple Holiday, Madonna Cries the song as a call to action! She is a lifer, that Madonna!

General CommentLOL,@ the previous comments. I'm going to go out a limb and suggest that the song may well be about a taking a "holiday" of some kind.

My InterpretationIt's worth noting when this song was released - the fall of 1983, a very, very tense and worrisome time worldwide (we now know that World War III almost started by accident). It's no accident, I think, that the lyrics call for the titular holiday to take place "all across the world, in every nation" and plead "You can turn the world around/Just bring back all those happy days" and "Let love shine/And we will find/A way to come together, we can make things better". Not to mention that it's a terrific dance track.
