The song seems to talk about a relationship that can never really seem to be over despite the desire moving on.

The song seems to begin by talking about what the relationship was like. "Midnight" and with "no headlights" giving that idea that while they're together, they have no idea where they're going. The lines "Long drive, could end in burning things or paradise" can be thought of as a call back to the previous song, Blank Space with the line "So it's gonna be forever or it's gonna go down in flames". Both lyrics suggests that these types of relationships are all or nothing. There is no middle ground.

She knows that this bad for her ("I should just tell you leave cause know exactly where it exactly where it leads") but she can't help herself and relapses into him. (But I watch it go round and round each time")

The Chorus plays on classic fashion tropes that are timeless and never get old. The "James Dean" look and the "Red Lip Classic" are things that will always been around and not something to get bored of easily. In comparing the relationship to this, she's saying that things she'll always come back to this relationship because it never goes out of style.

The second verse talks about the aftermath of breaking up, "The lights are off" as he "takes off his coat" shows that there's still some physical attraction between to the two. They talk about their time apart ("I've heard that you've been out and about with some other girl" ) and while he admits he's in the wrong ("He says what you heard is true") , she also confesses to doing the same thing ("I said I've been there too a few times"). Despite this however, they still come back together because they can't stop thinking about each other.

The bridge is a simple "Just take me home" which implies that she doesn't want to feel this way anymore. She just wants to go home and for this "long drive" to end. She's tired and wants to move on but she can't help herself when he comes into her life. They're both in a cycle of lust, desire and longing that they keep coming back to. To her, he is toxic but timeless.
