I believe this song as being about sex & more specifically the big O. So many lines,are about it, " And you keep on going 'cause you're unaware

It might be about both men & women having an O, because of the lines, "you haven't been there either," and "you won't know if you're coming or going." The silver rainbow 'might' be the zipper, but I always heard something different. Not trying to gross anyone out, but the way I always understood it when I was a sex crazed teenage boy 30 years ago, was that the silver rainbow referred to a man's ... seed. Anyone else ever hear it that way.

This is how I’ve always understood it, too. The fact that it creates an arch when released is what makes it a ‘rainbow’ - and when you’re in the middle of the big O, you would have no idea what’s happening around you!
