I really like this song. I think it’s really about the break up of a relationship. Perhaps a relationship that he stayed in too long. There is some clues that the relationship went on too long, as he talks about the time that’s been stolen, and him carrying her, which I interpreted as meaning that he was carrying the relationship for both of them. The song ends by analogy that others believe that he may have made a mistake , But I don’t believe that the singer believes that that’s the case
@glwpsyd - I get the same thought. Who "stole" the time is questionable, but he clearly thinks he was carrying the relationship. It's almost like he forfeited time. It's his own fault. Been there, so maybe I'm projecting or filtering. But that's what interpretation of the arts is for, projecting and filtering (and maybe learning) to end up with a personal experience.
