This song is not about some woman, it is about a guy and his love for and addiction to the drug Morphine named after the greek god Morpheus (appearing as a clue to which drug this song is about). As any drug-user knows an addiction is very similar to an ordinary lovestory, it follows the same pattern and attract the same part of the brain. The beginning of this song expresses feelings of a love that is lost, abandonment and broken promises. This stage in a drug-addicts "relationship" with the drug is inevitable, the body and the mind needs larger doses to feel that wonderful sensation mistaken for love. The guy can no longer connect with his love Morphine in the same way as he used to and he feel that the drug have betrayed him. Also a very common conclusion when you are addicted/in love with a drug. This dont sounds logical to a non-user but the next step might do. When you think you are about to loose someone you love it triggers you to try even harder to get that loving sensation back. And that is why he takes more and more Morphine hoping to get the warm and loving touch back and when it does not work he gets more and more desperate screaming out his agony to Morpheus. And then he comes to the breaking-point when he accuses his love (Morphine/Morpheus) she has giving him false promises and then leaving him at his worst. And he continues to take more and more Morphine still searching for the love this drug now is unable to give him. When you are a drug-user its not unlikely to fall in love with a new drug and althoug you now deep inside neither this love will last forever you suppress this thoughts. Probably the effect of the Morphine in this song had changed character and the guy did not feel how intoxicated he really was. At the very end of this song there are voices saying "dont die" and a guitar playing only to stop in a way suggesting the guitarplayer dies while playing.
