My Interpretation? NO This IS what the song means..
Its between a father and daughter.
Ok for some reason or other the father wasn't there for his daughter eg: father died was implied but i am leaning to he was effected by poor life circumstances and maybe drugs.
However the daughter is singing the song to her father irrespective if he is there or not. It is what she wishes to say too him.
That there is always hope and that he will always be her father and have a place for him in her heart.
I wish there would be a part two to this song but songs like this are amazing but too close too home for artist to warrant a second.

I think the father had depression or something and he wasn't really there for his daughter so that added on to his depression and the daughter is saying that it is OK and he should be happy for the things he has and not dwell on horrible things and to stop being depressed about things.
