He loves someone enough to wait for them before crossing over to heaven. He'll keep their faith alive and pray for them. The person he's referring to believes in God but somehow fell off the track ("And I'll keep your faith alive") The person he's talking to no longer believes in the things they used to, probably because they've been lost in the dark or living a life of bad decisions. It doesn't make them a bad person, just that they're making bad choices.
And I'll stay for you

@longsuffering Do you think maybe this is a song to him, from someone else? I noticed a couple of things. The song Ashes of Eden really sounds like a song about faith and God. I also noticed this is his first album where it's not explicit ( No Parental Advisory), also to back up my statement, he did add a member of the band "Red" to the band, which is known as a Positive Alternative / Christian band. Also, in the song Evil Angel, it sounds like he was almost mad that he believed in God, like he was...

I agree with both of the above anaylisis'. I would add that I was disappointed in the line: "Heaven wont help us now", in the last bridge. Until that point I was extremely inspired by the lyrics; then it sounded like he lost his own faith. Maybe I'm not interpreting correctly. I believe Heaven will help us, if our faith is strong enough. Otherwise I love the song.BB is my favorite band. I'm 59 by the way.
